It is difficult to get complete and accurate numbers, due to many factors. The tiger's scattered ranges, and the nature of the tiger itself, are just a few. It is estimated, currently the total is between 3000 and 4000, tigers living in the WILD (this estimation does not include tigers in captivity). The subspecies totals are:

Bengal Tiger: Less than 1500

Indochinese Tiger: 600 - 800 or less

South Chinese Tiger: Less than 15

Siberian Tiger: Around 400

Sumatran Tiger: 300 - 350

Malayan Tiger: Less than 400

There are some tiger species that have died out completely due to us humans. Don't let this happen to the rest. A hundred or so years ago there were well over 10,000 tigers. Now, in October 2009, we'd be lucky if there were 4,000 in the wild today. I think if us humans helped and started doing something about this and started sending in money we could all help save tigers most of all to help the South Chinese Tiger so it doesn't go extict. I say we all should do anything to help these tigers before they all go bye bye from our earth so do all you can to help.
