James, Albus, and Rose sat together at breakfast their second day at Hogwarts. Albus and Rose, nervous as ever sat quietly as they ate. James, since it being his second year at school was more at ease. While James talked to his friends Albus and Rose talked to one another in whispers. Even though nervous they couldn't keep the excitement from their voices. They talked about how the candles floated above their heads, their new robes, and the Gryffindor common room. As they glanced around the room they realized there were kids looking at them. Albus and Rose turned to one another wondering why they were getting curious looks from everyone in the Great Hall. Rose turned and tapped James on the shoulder looking for an answer.
"Why is everybody looking at us?" she asked him.
James smiled, and then started to laugh. When seeing the looks on Albus and Rose's faces he stopped.
'It's nothing, really" he assured them.
"But why are they all staring?" Albus said worried.
"Well it's because of who we are" James explained. "The Potters and you Rosie, since you're a Weasley, you already know about what are parents did, that's why everyone is staring" James said.
"Well it isn't that interesting" responded Albus.
"But there is a lot of stuff we don't know about it, right?" asked Rose.
"Yes, that's what everyone says. We'll find out when were a bit older" concluded James.
"Wish we could find out now" mumbled Albus.
"Me too" agreed Rose.
"Well were too young, they wouldn't tell us if we asked. Trust me, I've tried" James replied tired of the conversation.
Albus and Rose turned to one another once again and talked about what James had just told them. Then they noticed someone looking at them from the Slytherin table, he had white blond hair and a pointed face.
"Who is that boy looking at us?" Rose asked Albus.
"Your dad pointed him out on the platform, remember? His name is Scorpius or something. I've heard dad mention him, are parents knew his father" Albus said remembering.
"Oh yeah" Rosie said looking at the boy. "Malfoy wasn't it?"
Albus nodded "Scorpius Malfoy" he said his full name.
When Rose and Albus looked back at the boy they saw him walking towards them.
As Scorpius came closer to their table James got up to leave with his friends. Albus and Rose wanting him to stay let him walk away. Malfoy finally got to the Gryffindor table and sat down across from them. To Albus and Rose's surprise he smiled and introduced himself. They looked at him suspiciously not knowing what to say. Rosie was the first to speak, and then Albus.
"Hello, Rose Weasley" Rosie said with a smile not knowing if she could trust the boy or not.
"Hi, Albus Potter" said Albus with a nod to Scorpius.
"I was just wodering" Scorpius said but stopped trying to put what he was thinking into words. "Well are parents knew one another in school, still do…but they have never been friends" Malfoy explained.
"Yeah are parents mentioned that too" Rosie said.
Albus sat quietly wondering whether to believe Malfoy or not.
"I don't want us to be like that" Scorpius finally said.
"We don't either" Albus replied.
"I agree we shouldn't have to become enemies because of what are last names are" Rose said sounding like her mother.
Albus and Scorpius smiled at this.
Before they knew it they all became close friends and stuck together no matter how much everyone disagreed with them talking because of what went on with their parents years before. And what Albus, Rose, and Scorpius had most in common was that they wanted to find out what exactly happened to their parents in between the two wizarding wars, and that's just what they did.
