The mystery man.

The sun was beaming down onto the waves on the beach, creating a routine of pulling back and pushing forward back onto land, laugher echoing through the rocky-like caves and water splashing was heard among them. The mermaid parched behind a rock observing the humans at their day at the beach, running on the shore and laughing without a care in the world. She wondered what it would be like if she were human, she didn't smile like humans when she was back at home, under the sea with her friends and family. She came here often, noticing a frequent visitor. He had the brightest white hair she's ever seen, she was curious of him. He only showed up at night, staring at the stars and moon, never coming when the sun was shining its brightest, he was a mystery. She would intentionally ignore her father's wishes for her to return at night just so she could see him, his hair flow through the light wind as he closes his eyes and breaths, he's most defiantly a mystery.

Her older sisters told her of the story of a mermaid who had fallen in love with a human, made a deal with the demon of the sea to grow legs, only to have her beautiful voice taken away from her. She began to live in that world, growing to love the realm she had the fortune to adventure, she said goodbye to her world to live in theirs. Nothing else was known of her story only that she had a child, considering she was a mermaid she outlived both her husband and her child, it was a cruel life to live after that, she could no longer return to the sea as she had lost her gills and her tail. Maybe that had something to do with the rules of the sea, not to have any contact with humans… it was encase they fell in love and ended up heartbroken seeing the one they love die, it was to protect their hearts.

The mermaid reached her hand for another rock, her hand slipped on the wet surface and she fell into the water beneath her. She gasped at the loud sound the splash made. The male sitting on the beach heard the sound and looked around in defence. She moved out of his line of sight and breathed as she saw him relax against the sand once again. Her eyes adjusted to the night's darkness and the small yellow lights illuminating from the towns in the distance, she was much closer to the shore then she's ever been before. It was the first time she could finally make out his facial features, his red intriguing eyes boring into the never-ending darkness of the sky.

Suddenly the wind began to pick up, his hair swayed more, flowing in the wind. The simple action of the earth made him look more handsome than anyone she had ever seen. Her heart beat began to increase at his smile as he welcomed to light breeze. She had the scariest thought cross her mind, what if she were to turn into a human? She wanted to know more about the man who only came at night, giving her plenty of reasons to disobey her kind and speak to him. She truly wanted to speak to him, he was a forbidden mystery to be solved by her. What would happen if she were to talk?
