She took a deep breath, letting his scent calm her like so many years before, when she was just a girl and he was her best chance.

"I need you Daniel" the brunette woman let out beneath her breath with her eyes closed "I always did, I don't know how to go on" her body started to shake violently once more, this time harder against the young man's chest while her hands were grabbing his shirt, pulling him closer, to make herself believe that he was actually there.

The man's hand moved to her hair, caressing it in the most tender way she could have asked for, it still felt good, after so much time, after losing him, his touch was still the best feeling.

"You don't, you can do it, that's the reason I fell for you".

Regina raised her head, just enough to look into his eyes, and she saw in them what she had always seen, love.

"I'm not the same girl you proposed to, I can't do this" her voice was controlled for a moment but cracked in the next second "I'm not enough. I wasn't enough to my mother, I wasn't enough for Henry" her head returned to his chest "I wasn't enough as a Queen" another sob took over her "I keep failing, I keep making mistakes" the grip of her hands in his shirt was growing "I keep breaking things, everything I touch" her eyes returned to him "everyone I love".

"You were enough for me" he said sincerely with that voice that always made her heart melt to the ground and raise above the sky "now you have to try to be enough for yourself"

"What if I can't?" it was the most honest question she had ever made.

It was the first time in years that she allowed someone to see her like that, broken, desperate, hopeless, but with Daniel was always so simple, so natural.

"Do you remember the day we met?" he asked her while his hand caressed her hair.

She wasn't able to talk so she nodded and waited for him to continue.

"You were riding that beautiful horse of yours and I saw it, I remember how I thought that was the most beautiful creature I've ever seen, but then I saw you and you were the most beautiful thing" he made her look at him, using his hand to raise her head slightly "And then you fell and I ran to you, when I was by your side I was freaking out and you just laughed right at my face" he had a genuine smile on his lips "Do you remember what you said back then?"

She nodded but he kept waiting for her to answer and after cleaning a few tears she did.

"I said I was ok and that when we fall we just have to get back up as fast as we can and with our head up"

Daniel smiled "So you know exactly what you need to do"

Regina hugged him close, she wasn't a hug lover but it felt right, everything with Daniel felt right.

He hugged her back and they stayed like that for a while.

"You know you'll have to wake up eventually my love"

Regina nodded once more "Can I hold you, until I wake up?"

"Always"

"What will I do without you?" she asked with her eyes closed.

"You'll live, you have Henry now, and I'm never gone" his hand moved to her chest "I'm always with you"

"You promise?"

"I do"
