Prologue
My body's shuddering, shaking, My finger aches, it feels broken.
But, if this has taught me anything, a broken bone isn't really a big deal. The Capitol is after breaking something much bigger then just my finger.
"Will you kill Katniss Everdeen?"
The voice sounds impatient, which makes me smile.
It's a small victory .
The shock, the electric tremor that seizes my whole body is coming back. This time they are going for later memories, our last few moments in the Quarter Quell, where it all went wrong for me…
"NO!" I shock myself by yelling, throwing my body against the wall.
It wasn't something I tried to do, it was just a reaction. That's one of the things that scares me the most about myself these days; I don't think before I do anything. I feel like the Capitol is turning me into an animal, that all I'm trying to do is survive instead of live.
But living's not that important to me, it's keeping them from using me as a weapon to destroy Katniss.
Because I won't let them do that.
If you can't beat them, join them. The voice in his head sounds like Haymitch. And I've never been sure if advice from Haymitch is better, or should be used with caution.
And I'm never sure what he's talking about, Katniss was always the one who understood him.
Join them. But they are the enemy, they are trying to warp my mind. Why would I want to join them in deluding my reality…

Can I send my mind to a place where they can't reach it?
Do more then just break off a piece, but take the whole thing away?

RIGHT, well, yes. Here's the story thus far. I'm planning on not writing a Peeta centered fic, although he will have a very big role in it, which is why I didn't specify any characters this is supposed to be about. It will also have Haymitch, and Gale, Katniss, maybe a little Prim/Rory pairing...
