"Are you sure?" said Ron. There was the faintest hint of longing in his voice as he looked at the Elder wand.
"I think Harry's right," said Hermione quietly.
"That wand's honestly more trouble than it's worth," said Harry. "And quite honestly," he turned away from the painted portraits, thinking now only of the four-poster bed lying waiting for him in the Gryffindor Tower, and wondering whether Kreacher might bring him a sandwich there, "I've had enough trouble for a life time."
"You can say that again!" snorted Ron.
The three of them walked out of Dumbledore's office experiencing hundreds of different emotions at once. Grieve Relief, Happiness, Sorrow, Denial, and Confusion all at once.
"Do you think they'll let us sleep in the Gryffindor tower? I don't know about you but I'm Exhausted."
"I think we all are," croaked Hermione. "We haven't slept since we were at Bill and Fleur's. I can't believe that was only a couple of days ago, it feels like months."
The others had to agree, the warm, cosy cottage seemed like a distant memory.
The three of them made their way to the Gryffindor tower in silence. Each of them lost in their own trails of thought. It dawned on the three of them how far they'd come. The trio had been fighting Voldermort since they were eleven and they'd finally concord him. You'd think they'd be thrilled but the situation was much more complicated. Lives had been lost and the youngsters were all still in shock. It was safe to say they'd never needed sleep more than they did then.
Finally they completed the journey that they'd made countless of times before and they reached their common room. The journey felt longer than it ever had before and the three of them were relieved to finally be able to rest.
The two boys made their way up to the boy's dormitory whilst Hermione hovered at the bottom of the stairway.
"Hermione can you stay in the boy's dorms tonight?" asked Ron halfway up the banister.
Harry stopped in his tracks and turned to Hermione.
"Of course, we need you Hermione," he agreed.
"Yeah, Sure," Hermione smiled. "I'll just wait for Ginny and then we'll both come up."
"Ok." They boys grinned clambering up the remaining stairs.
A/N
Chapters are going to be short and frequent, might put another one on tonight. I know there's no Ron and Hermione, or Harry or Ginny. But let's not rush them!
