Gokudera glared at the clock on the wall, daring the minute hand to move any slower. The classroom was quiet, the only sound being the scratching of pencils on paper and the ticking of the clock. It was starting to drive Gokudera insane.
There had been a test in math today, and while Gokudera had finished within fifteen minutes, the rest of the class was still working. He was tired and irritable from having to stay up until two to teach the tenth and the baseball idiot the material for the test, and he badly needed a smoke.
Finally, after an excruciatingly slow half hour the bell rang and everyone handed in their tests. Tsuna and Yamamoto joined Gokudera as they left school. Yamamoto didn't have any baseball practice today, so he could walk home with Tsuna and Gokudera.
"I think that I'm going to have to retake the test, despite all the studying we did before." Tsuna said with a sigh.
"Ha-ha, yeah. I don't think I did too great either." Yamamoto said, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. Gokudera grumbled and lit up a cigarette, taking a good, long drag before acknowledging Yamamoto's comment.
"Stupid baseball idiot, if you'd spent more time studying and less time staring out the window, you would have done better." Yamamoto laughed easily and Gokudera scowled.
"Maybe. Do you think that you could come by the sushi shop and teach it to me again? I must have been distracted yesterday." Yamamoto asked. Gokudera scowled and took one last drag from his cigarette before scuffing it out on the sidewalk.
"You're such a baseball idiot. Why should I teach it to you again?" Gokudera demanded.
"Actually, I could probably use some help with the material again too." Tsuna said timidly.
"Great, then we can all go to my house."
"Hey! I didn't say that I was going to help you, you idiot!"
-------
"Okay… wait, what about this 'x' here?" Gokudera growled and pinched the bridge of his nose to stave off his impending headache. Tsuna had gone home earlier to help his mom with the kids and so Gokudera was stuck teaching Yamamoto the same thing for the third or fourth time in a row.
"Never mind, you're hopeless, baseball idiot." Gokudera flopped back on the floor in frustration and exhaustion. Yamamoto grinned and stretched.
"We should take a break, since we've been working on this for hours." Gokudera glared at Yamamoto before sighing in resignation.
"Fine, whatever."
"We should play some cards. I just learned how to play poker from Dino." Yamamoto suggested. Gokudera sat up, scowling, and glared at Yamamoto.
"We don't have anything to bet, baseball idiot." Yamamoto shrugged and laughed.
"Whoever loses has to do something for the winner."
"Che, fine. Let's play poker."
-------
As it turns out, Gokudera was not at all good at poker, Yamamoto is more cunning than he looks, and Tsuna is sort of completely clueless. Needless to say, Gokudera couldn't look Yamamoto in the eye for a week after that poker game.
-------Author's Note-------
Woo-hoo, third story written today.
This was a request by enchantedsleeper. She gave me three numbers and the pairing of Yamamoto and Gokudera. This took about an hour to write.
This is a part of my challenge to myself. I'm trying to improve my writing skills through short exercises. If you want to help me, give me three numbers between one and ninety-five and a fandom/character/pairing and I'll try to write it.
The prompts for this story were white noise, try again, and cards.
Thanks for reading and please review.
