Thor watches his brother from afar. He watches as he sips coffee from a mug outside a cafe. As a waitress flirts with him and how his brother blushes not used to such flirtation. He has been watching him for some time now. Day in, day out ever since Loki was banished to Earth with no memory of his life on Asgard to help those he hurt. He watches Loki as he volunteers to help at homeless shelters and hospitals with no knowledge that some of the injured or homeless are there because of his actions.

Thor tries to tell himself that this is for the best, that at least Loki isn't dead. But there are times when he aches for the kinship he had with his brother. When he just wants to go up to him and hug him and tell him how much he misses him and that he wants to be a better brother to him. He shouldn't even be watching Loki, he's going against his father's wishes. Thor knows that S.H.I.E.L.D and his fellow Avengers keep an eye on Loki, monitoring him. Their reasons are quite different from Thor's. They are waiting for Loki to screw up, Thor on the other hand watches Loki to watch him thrive and finally find some inner peace. Loki hasn't found it yet and there are times Thor notices a familiar look that Loki gives. He gets a lost look on his face. Thor sees this same look in his own mirror when he misses Loki so much. Like a rib, a heart, or some part of his soul is missing and the pain is more than one can handle. It's time like that that makes him wonder who has the worse fate: him or Loki? For is it harder to miss what you can't remember or miss what you can?
