Hello people. I am Tigherlily. I have kidnapped Finland from another fic and we are going to explain some of Christmas's favorite stories, legends, etc. And we are going to do one in a minute. You are welcome to send in things you would like decoded and Finland will answer them to the best of my abilities. This will run from today to the day after Epiphany or January 8th. We are starting with 'Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer'.

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose, and if you ever saw him, you would even say it glows.
This line comes from the phenomenon of when light hits a reindeer's eyes, they appear red. The light reflects off of their retina and shines back red. This also appears in small, white animals.
Finland's Explanation
'I had a reindeer one year that was blind in one eye, the poor dear. Jessie said that his vision was fine but he had some problems with his distancing, so she put him in front. A novelist saw this reindeer look down and saw his one eye shine back light from the streetlamp, mistaking it as a "glowing nose". Thus, "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer" was born. Where he got the name Rudolph, I will never know.'
