"Hey... KK?"

The rasped voice asked. KK's- Karkat's- eyes widened as the bloodied troll spoke.

"S-Sollux?" Tears welled in Karkat's eyes. The speaking carcass was propped up against him. His head rested limp on his shirt. The crusty, tan blood of Sollux was caked onto his black shirt in ugly streaks. The grey, Greek horoscope sign on the shirt, Cancer, was obscured by the blood. "I'm here."

"Did... Did we make it?" Sollux stuttered. Being the troll of the sign Gemini, his eyes were mismatched. The right eye was black, the left white. Usually, his eyes glowed steadily, like calm fireflies or the human moon at night. However, his eyes were dull, weakened by the journey. "Are we here?"

After wiping a stray tear from his eye, Karkat answered, "Yeah! We made it..." In vain, he forced a smile, knowing fully that the blinded Sollux couldn't see it. "You did it, Sollux. You got us here." It was unlike Karkat to praise. It was unlike him to be kind. Usually, the troll was in a grumpy mood. Even on Trollian, Alternia's online chat client, he always spoke in caps and overused swearing.

"That's... That's great, bro..." Sollux rasped. His tone was unconvincing.

"Y-You just lie down there, okay?" Like Sollux, Karkat was blind. Blinded by the grey tears that welled in his yellow eyes. "Just... Rest."

With a groan, Sollux puffed out his chest, blinking slowly. "I'm fuckin' spitting my own blood out, man..." He sighed, bringing the back of his hand to his face. He wiped, streaking his knuckles with the tan liquids. "I'm leaking everywhere..."

"No... No! You're gonna live, okay? Fuck it, Sollux!" His voice was desperate. With his shaking hand, he helped Sollux by moving a stray strand of black hair from his eyes. Every word he said at this point was mostly to himself.

"Karkat."

Karkat looked into his blind eyes. "Yeah?"

"Fuck you. D-Don't... Don't lie to me..."

Karkat slouched. It felt as if a dagger was stabbed through his chest. Did it always have to be like this? Whenever he tried to help... He always seemed to fail. Ridiculed for it. Worse... Would Sollux die? "Sol..." His voice was laced with pain.

"I'm... I'm dying, right?" He paused, sniffling as yellow tears streamed down his face. He looked up blindly at the sky. "Karkat... Just... Fuck, tell me!" The last two words were rung out like a bronze bell; shaking and desperate. Desperate to know. He didn't want to die.

Lost for words, his jaw hung ajar. "Y-Y-You did great, Sollux." Tears of grey now streamed from his eyes. "You did great!"

After nodding once, Sollux made a sound. A huff. Before falling even more limp. His blind eyes no longer twitched towards Karkat's voice. They simply looked up.

"Sollux...?" Karkat had the body's head in his wide palm. "Sollux!" He probed the young hacker troll with his free hand. "Don't leave me!" The demand was stern, yet it also shaked between his sobs.

Sollux made no reply. No twitch. His chest no longer heaved, or tried to. He was just... Limp. Karkat wailed out, sniffling every few moments. Any attemped to speak was choked by a sob.
