Carlos and Logan both had a crush on each other. Everyone knew it; their best friends Kendall and James, the entire 7th grade class, even their parents. The two boys balanced each other. Logan was more sensible and could make Carlos concentrate in school. Carlos was always able to persuade Logan to let loose and have fun.

However boys were too nervous to ask the other out. Being 13, it was scary to start developing feelings for your best friend, especially if he was a guy. Of course, they had seen Kendall and James start dating over the summer, but even with that example both were too nervous until one day when the smartest girl in class started flirting with Logan every day. Carlos almost went insane with jealousy and marched right up to Logan's desk one Friday.

"Logan will you go to the movies with me tonight?"

"S-sure," Logan stuttered, turning very red but also looking quite happy.

"Awesome it'll be a double date!" said James from behind Carlos. Carlos rolled his eyes as he turned to look at Kendall and James who were smirking. Logan wasn't that surprised and secretly relieved. They had been best friends since pre-k so why wouldn't they double date? Plus having them there might make him less jittery.

"Mom, I could have just walked!" Logan cried out in the car. He was so embarrassed. He wanted to make a good impression tonight and his mom going to ruin his night. She had even taken a picture before they had left and Logan swore he had her on the phone with Mrs. Garcia.

"Nonsense. I wanted to take my baby boy on his very first date!" exclaimed Mrs. Mitchell, grinning widely. Thankfully they arrived at the theater before she could gush too much and Logan ran out of the car as fast as he could, trying to escape his mom. To his surprise, Carlos was standing there with his mom also! He also looked mortified but brightened when he saw Logan. Their moms got to gossiping right away so Carlos and Logan slipped away. They spotted Kendall and James holding hands, waiting in line for the popcorn. Not wanting to be left out, Carlos grabbed Logan's hand. Logan blushed but soon relaxed and the four friends started talking.

Logan enjoyed the movie, especially since Carlos didn't let go of his hand the entire time. However, he felt like throwing up when they were walking to their moms, who had decided to go for dinner while waiting. Kendall and James hadn't hesitated to kiss each other all night and Logan really wanted to do that with Carlos, but he didn't know how. He had never been kissed before.

"Hey Logan?" Carlos asked, looking down at his shoes. "Um…can I kiss you? I think that's what you are supposed to do at the end of a date…"

"I don't know," Logan replied quietly. "I don't know how to kiss.."

"You haven't been kissed before!" Carlos looked up.

Logan looked ashamed. "No!"

"Me neither. This is great. We can be each others first kiss!"

And in an instant, they were clumsily kissing each other. Even though they were just learning how to do it, both boys knew it felt right. They were so engrossed in each other that they didn't even notice Mrs. Mitchell had taken out her camera.

"This is definitely going in his graduation scrapbook."
