Prologue

The reason I wanted to write a fanfic is because I needed some more Ranger's Apprentice and Brotherband Chronicles in my life and I didn't hear anything about a sixth Brotherband book or a 13th Ranger's Apprentice book or some kind of new point of view.

I currently have a few drafts and some ideas. If you would like to post an idea, post it. I'll try to incorporate it into the fanfic.

This is my first fanfic, so if you don't like it, tell me, and if you do like it, tell me too.

Will and Gilan had been waiting for hours, and Halt still hadn't come. It was strange, since Halt always arrived at this particular day and time. They had been plotting the best and most embarrassing plan for their former mentor, and get the better of him, which had not been so sucessful for the past two Ranger Gatherings.

It was also strange that many of the Rangers were a little stressed out. But they were used to it. Most of the time they were the last ones to know things, since they were one of the most young members of the whole entire Ranger Corps of Araluen. How strange sometimes the only Rangers that knew about something was them, and sometimes the other way around.

So Will and Gilan were telling each other about their missions, when Will was in Hibernia and Gilan with the Heron.

"So when you were at Hibernia, the annual Skandian ship duty changed, and

the Heron brotherband was here. They were mostly young, except an old and experienced sailor and warrior that was kind of like a mentor to the Heron Brotherband. He was the skirl's adviser, and apparently he was the Maktig, the mighty one in Skandia for three years straight, until he lost his arm. His name is Thorn. The skirl is young, like all the other crew. His name was Hal. He was a great navigator, and a proficient warrior."

It was at this moment when Crowley came over and asked, "Am I interrupting something?"

Gilan and Will simultaneously replied, "No."

Gilan elaborated, "We were just talking about my adventure. But you can just send Will the files later."

"Well, actually most of what I have to say is about Skandia, and some about that Brotherband. Why don't you go on and explain?"

"So basically there was this warrior Stig, who was as good as Horace, and when they came over, a rogue Skandian ship went and captured the slaves, so we had to go and save them, and we did. And after that we then needed to go on a quest for King Duncan when he said that he needed us to go and stop this Scorpion Cult that was trying to kill Princess Cassandra. And basically we succeeded. You can read files later when we have the time."

"So," Crowley continued, "Skandian traders have reported several kayak like boats sailing in their waters, and the people in them were very strange. They yelled a weird noise, shouted some kind of foreign language, and skin was slightly darker. They had bows, and a few Skandians died. They were able to kill all the so called Natives, take a prisoner, and bring the boat back. Now Halt on his mission-"

"Halt was on a mission?!" Will and Gilan asked simultaneously, stunned.

"Yes, because Gilan had fief work to do and you were on that Martinsyde investigation. Now the Skandians wanted someone familiar and they chose Halt. He was a good interrogator, which is what they wanted a Ranger to do, interrogate the so called Native. Halt found out that the Natives wanted to actually take over some other parts of the world, and would now know that land was here, since there was another ship. So they would attack it. He wouldn't say where he lived though."

"Well, I have a feeling he didn't want to,"Gilan added.

"Well, I want you to go with that Brotherband crew and try to find where the Natives live, since the prisoner wouldn't tell us. The thing is, you're going to the west. I know it's the place where the so called world ends, but Skandians have a different theory. They say that the world is round. It seems crazy, but I actually agree with it." Then Crowley added, "But the thing is, you're not the only person. Skandian ships with important characters from Arridi, Nihon-Ja, and etc. are going. But the difference is that you are the one of the three groups that are going west. All the people think that they are in the east, but many leaders and their advisers think that the answer lies in the east. Another group that is headed to the east is Halt, and some cavalry. The third group Selethen and some Arridain warriors and cavalry. It should be a successful campaign. So do you want to come?"

Gilan shrugged, "Well, no point missing out on something."

"My thoughts exactly," Crowley answered. "You'll leave tommorow evening. Now, may we go on with the Gathering?"

Both Will and Gilan nodded.

"Boy am I ready for coffee," Gilan exclaimed.

"Who isn't?" Will asked, "who isn't?"

Do you think it's a bit short?

Anyways, tell me if you want to see more. Next update I'll try to do it by next Saturday.
