Hiya! This has been swirling around in my mind for while, and I think my first fic should be about my favorite (although crack) Warriors OTP! This takes place the night of the fire in Rising Storm(I think it was) but I haven't read it for awhile, so sorry if I get anything wrong! Thanks for reading!
Goldenflower purred as her two kits curled up together under the bush. The fire had driven ThunderClan out of their camp, and RiverClan had let them stay in a clearing, not far from their own. Graystipe, although sad about the fire, was overjoyed to see Fireheart again.
Fireheart. The golden tabby felt a wave of sadness wash over her. Although it was nearly a moon ago, Goldenflower clearly remembered the night he told her how he truly felt. Fireheart loved her, and although she loved him, she didn't tell him.
She told him why they could never be mates instead. Goldenflower was seasons older than the handsome tom, and she had two litters of kits already. One with his bitter enemy. Goldenflower told him all this, while silently breaking her own heart. She had always admired the ginger warrior's confidence, from when he fought against Longtail when he first came, to when he spoke out against the clan's most respected warrior.
Goldenflower was jolted out of her thoughts by a mewl from her tortoiseshell kit. She leaned over and liked Tawnykit softly on the head. Goldenflower's ears pricked as Graystripe poked his head under the leaves.
"Hey Goldenflower," the big gray tom meowed, " Fireheart and I were going around and making sure every cat is taken care of, then going to guard the camp. Are you settled in?"
"No, would you do me a favor?" Goldenflower asked hesitantly.
"Uh, sure," Graystripe looked confused at her tone, and blinked at her questioningly at her next task.
"Would you mind asking Frostfur if she could watch my kits for the night? I… I need to talk to Fireheart."
Graystripe nodded and padded over to another bush. Soon, Bramblekit and Tawnykit were seeping by the queen's soft white belly.
Soon, the temporary camp was filled with the soft snores of sleeping cats. Goldenflower walked quietly to where Fireheart was sitting alone.
"Where's Graystripe?"
"Lepordstar ordered him back to camp." Fireheart looked exhausted. His ginger pelt was covered in ash and his muzzle was singed.
Goldenflower sat next to him, her heart soaring as he leaned closer to her. She licked the top of his head, and cleaned his fur of the ash. Her tongue tasted horrid, but she didn't mind.
"Fireheart..."
He looked up drowsily and blinked his green eyes.
"I lied that night. Well not really lied, but I didn't tell you the whole truth."
Fireheart sat up now, hope gleaming in his eyes.
"I love you Fireheart. More than I have loved any other cat ever, except my kits. But all the other things I said were true. I was born only a few moons after Bluestar, and… and I didn't want to feel the same sadness I did when Tigerclaw left. Because eventually, you'd question why you're with me. When you have pretty she-cats, like Sandstorm padding after you, why are you wasting your time with me?" Goldenflower trailed off, her claws digging into the soil.
Fireheart licked the ginger tabby's cheek.
"I'd never want any cat but you."
Goldenflower purred and leaned against him. She would sit with him the rest of the night, she decided.
And she wanted to for the rest of her life.
