L watched Matsuda eating a sponge cake, covered with icing sugar. His mouth watered. After 2 hours without cake, sweets or any other kind of sugary goods, his mind was beginning to feel sluggish. Without thinking he reached over and delicately plucked it from Matsuda's hand. Squatting back down on the couch he hastily stuffed it down his mouth.
"Hey!" Matsuda shouted standing up and scattering crumbs all over the floor. "That was mine!"
"Was it?..." L gave him a blank stare. "I'm sorry I didn't realise."
Matsuda stormed out of the room glaring at L as he returned to his cake.
Confusion spread over L's mind as the heavenly item of sugar began to move away from his mouth.
"What th-" he stopped and glared at Light. Pulling his hand back viciously he resumed cramming the cake down his throat.
"Ryuuzaki! Hello?!" he tugged on the chain again. "We need to go, remember? We're going on a date with Misa."
"No."
"What do you mean no? She'll KILL me if I don't go out with her today." He smiled at the expression of extreme reluctance on Ryuuzaki's face.
Growling L swallowed the rest of the cake in one go as the handcuff chain tautened yanking him towards the door.
"LIGHT!" a blur collided with Light, practically knocking him over the coffee table. "Oh I haven't seen you in ages." Misa exclaimed kissing him.
"Have you got any cake?" L's face popped over Light's shoulder.
"Oh… You…" she grimaced. "Light, darling, does he really have to be with us tonight?"
"Misa we've been through this, until we catch Kira, Ryuuzaki will be going everywhere with me." Light explained carefully.
"Hmmf. When do we get do have a proper date without him." she frowned, annoyed.
"Just give me cake and you won't notice me at all."
Grumbling Misa turned towards the kitchen, with L staring after her.
"Here's your stupid cake. Now leave us alone!" she shouted.
"I'm afraid that's not possible." without explaining he crouched onto the low chair.
Resigning herself to her fate, Misa slid into her seat and tried to concentrate on Light for the rest of the night.
