"Kyouya." Éclair says quietly. He stops working and looks at her.
"What is it?"
Éclair waits a moment before speaking. She needs to phrase the question right. "Had Haruhi not chased us down…if Tamaki and I had reached the airport…what would you have done?"
Kyouya smirks and closes his eyes, his fingers resuming their tapping at the keyboard of his laptop. "What do you mean by that? I wouldn't have done anything."
She frowns. That wasn't been the answer she'd been expecting. "You would have stood by and watched him marry me?"
Kyouya's smirk widens just a bit. "Naturally."
"And you wouldn't have tried to stop it."
"Of course not."
Éclair bites the inside of her lip gently. "Interesting."
Kyouya makes a soft noise, almost like a laugh. "What would you expect? You were just a name and a face then."
His expression changes ever so slightly, shifting into a real smile. She moves her fingers under the table as if twirling her opera glasses, which she no longer carries with her. He pauses in his typing again, glancing up to catch her eye. Kyouya doesn't speak, but raises his eyebrows slightly and waits.
"So, hypothetically," Éclair begins, "If you'd known more about me…would you have come after?"
Kyouya's eyes soften and he smiles again. His hands move from his laptop to grasp hers lightly under the table, stilling them. He twines his fingers in hers.
That's all the answer Éclair needs.
I ship this so hard.
