Summary: Her death and brought a lot into light. Guilt, shame, all the things he wished he could rewind and fix. She was just taken too early.

Title: Taken to Early

Darkness, every single object silhouetted onto his wall through the emitted darkness that seeped from the night sky. Everything had fallen far too quickly for him to even have a chance of catching it. His heart had fallen too, smashing into a million pieces on the floor. He'd lost everything, why wouldn't it break? The only person he trusted, the only person he loved and she was taken before he had a chance to fix what was wrecked.

A lot had come to light since she was brutally taken, a lot he thought he'd left behind. The fact he'd cheated, the fact he was a fake, the fact he was one man lost in an entire universe of brilliant doctors and scientists. He just wished he could rewind it and record over it, he just wished he could make it go away. But he couldn't. He couldn't and he shouldn't because it was all that was left of Penny to remember. A stark tear danced down his cheek, a tear that was all to real.

He was still getting to grips with her death. It was typical of Penny to risk her life for someone else's. She was just too nice; unfortunately it's not always the good that get to keep everything. Penny was no exception; she'd lost the most precious thing to her… her life. He couldn't hide from the fact that there was a lot left unsaid. He hadn't got to tell her that he apologised, he never got to tell her how much she meant to him. She was his family; she should have deserved to hear little sentiments and meaningful words from her brother.

The moon cascaded single beams of glistening light through the window, forming dashes of colour as it shined through the lone drops of rain. He dropped his gaze to the floor, everything he had meant to do but hadn't, every decision he took too long to make had crashed around him. He had to remember it wasn't just him who suffered, it was everyone. Michael, her friends, her patients, they all suffered. They'd either lost a great friend or a great doctor. He'd however lost a beautiful, amazing family member. He couldn't make mistakes anymore at work. She wasn't there to cover up for him. If he made an error, she couldn't take the blame for him anymore, times were changing and so was he.

His eyes fluttered shut, hiding the thousands of tears that had formed and threatened to fall in his eyes. He sighed once more, he'd sighed too much. Suddenly, he didn't belong in this world, he belonged with Penny, where his home was. The time escaped from him and so did the world he was in, his mind shut everything he felt out, pain, need, guilt, and he fell from his sanity, he only wished Penny would catch him.
