"And Odie, really, using a bit of hair conditioning now and then won't kill you."
Odie sighs as he tries to ignore Neil's blabbering. He and Harry look at each other before both rolling their eyes and returning their gazes to the game on the TV. Jay just grits his teeth and continues studying a map at the kitchen table, putting dots down on where they had last seen Cronus. Theresa ignores him as she doodles in her notebook, while Atlanta who was hunched over on the couch continues to read her book used to the blonde's ranting.
Archie was the only one who was seemed to be paying close attention, hands hovering over the keyboard of his labtop on the comfy chair. Neil catches his gaze and quickly turns to him.
"Glad you're listening Arch, Zeus knows you need all the help you can get with that purple mess you call-"
"How are you alive?"
Neil blinks, taken aback by the sudden strange question, the others look up as well confused expression on their faces.
"What?" Niel asks, wondering if he had misheard.
"I mean…" Archie taps his fingers against his keyboard. "I was looking up some stuff about the gods and well I found some weird stuff about Narcissus."
Jay leans back looking serious. "What kind of stuff?"
"Like everyone knows about Narcissus seeing himself in a pool of water and being stuck there, staring at his reflection, right?"
Neil sniffs as uncomfortable memories of the first time he met Cronus and was tricked into doing the same come to mind. "So?"
"Well…" Archie pauses, looking like he was trying to come up with the right words.
Atlanta huffs in annoyance. "Spit it out, Archie!"
"He drowns himself!" Archie blurts out.
Neil blinks again, looking slightly stunned.
"O-or he was turned into a flower. I don't know it get's kind of weird…" Archie mutters.
Theresa nods slightly, looking like she was deep n thought. "You know…that's true…I've heard weird stories of Narcissus about that."
"And," Odie pipes up. "Even if Narcissus didn't end up as a plant or whatever, who would he love enough to have a kid with? He only loved himself."
There's silence in the room as all eyes are drawn on to Neil, who for once was not enjoying the spotlight.
He shrugs his shoulders slightly, a sad and confused expression on his face. "How am I supposed to know? Obviously he must have gotten with someone since I'm here."
Silence reigns for a few minutes as everyone digests the information. Herry is the first one to turn back to his game, Odie follows his lead and soon everyone is back to their previous tasks.
Sometimes it was better to just let things go.
