Hey guys, this is a remake of my old story. I started this when I was 12, so there will be a noticeable difference in writing style and vocabulary. Enjoy, and let me know what you think, or suggestions.
I don't own Percy Jackson, all credit goes to my guy Rick
A middle aged women walked into the her simple house, on the island of Crete, and sat on a wooden chair, contemplating her future. She had just sent her son Zeus to Mount Othrys, to meet his father, or to be more precise, to free his siblings who had been swallowed by Kronos. Rhea's hair had started to turn grey, she wasn't as young as she used to be. She too a deep breath, smelling a mixture of roses and livestock, and stood up.
Immediately, she gasped. She felt a wave of nausea flow through her. Running, she left the house into the garden, and positioned herself near a bush. Instantly, a projectile of vomit burst fro her mouth, spraying the undeserving plant with her lunch. After vomiting for a couple of more rounds, Rhea stood up and washed her face in the nearby river.
"I must be sick, don't worry though Ella, I am alright." Rhea said to Ella, one of the Nymphs who assisted Rhea.
"Of course My Lady, do you require anything?"
"That's alright Ella, just feed the goats." Rhea turned and walked inside her hut. She was feeling empty inside, since Zeus had left. Even though Zeus was only present for a year, she had gotten accustomed to his, and his voice. He was always more mature than his age. He was self sufficient, allowing Rhea to go visit her husband occasionally. In fact, she did a lot more than just "visit" Kronos (Ahem).
Rhea went to the fire, and set a chicken on the spike. She cooked the chicken for 20 minutes, before seasoning it with a multitude of spices that she had cultivated and made from the island. Rhea finished cooking, and started to eat her dinner, yet something was wrong. She felt even more sick than Before. This worried her, as the last time that she felt this way was when she was pregnant with Zeus.
"No...It can't be!" She exclaimed. "I can't be pregnant with another child, i just raised one for a year!" Rhea felt a nervous, sinking feeling in her stomach. She then proceeded to regurgitate her dinner all over the fire, extinguishing it immediately.
"Damn it all, it appears that I have gotten pregnant from my last visit to Kronos's palace. I will keep this pregnancy a secret, to raise this child to his… or her full potential."
Rhea immediately started preparing for her new baby. She new that she would only be pregnant for a month, as that is the way for Titan women. She had to plan it so that no one would know that she had a child, except for her loyal servants who were with her on the Island. She couldn't even send word to Zeus, as he would be busy rescuing his other siblings. They would have to reunite with this new child later, Rhea thought.
Over the next few weeks, Rhea got everything ready for a new baby God. She had assumed that, since her last 5 children weren't Titans, but a new breed, that this one would too. She got a group of nymphs ready, in order to play music to cover up the noise of the baby screaming or crying. Everything was set and ready for the Baby.
Rhea had heard rumors that Zeus had succeeded in freeing his siblings from the clutches of Kronos's stomach. They were now in Tartarus, fetching weapons for an assault on Mount Othrys. Rhea knew that the war was inevitable, and that once her child would be born, she would need to hide with it, in order to keep it safe until the war ended. This would take years, or even decades, yet Rhea was prepared. She was determined to save at least one of her children.
It was now roughly the due date of her baby. Rhea started feeling strong contractions occurring every few moments, and called out to her loyal Nymphs. With help, she delivered a perfect baby boy, in 3 hours of labor.
"My son, my perfect boy. I shall name you Perseus, as you will be the destroyer of evil in this world." Rhea cradled her son and carressed his head, filled with untidy hair, jet black.
"I must hide" Rhea Queen said. "Kronos must not find out about your birth, little Perseus." Rhea whispered to him. She then teleported to a secret location, away from the eyes of even her trusted servants. She took refuge in a cave, in present day Turkey. She would raise her son here, away from the prying eyes of the world.
Perseus was...different from the rest of the world. He grew up more rapidly that Zeus did, at an exponential rate. In his first month of life, he was already at the equivalent of a 2 year old. He began speaking, although it was mostly gibberish. Rhea spent her days tending to her son, teaching him about the Titan's history, about his siblings, and even about his villain of a father. Perseus had eyes the color of the sea, and was a very lean child. He wasn't at all chubby, like Zeus was.
Now, he had been alive for 6 months, and he had the maturity and mental capacity of a 12 year old (for humans). He was a tall 12 year old, standing at 5 feet. Percy proved to be competent in a multitude of athletic tasks, and loved to help his mom out with her chores.
"Hey Mom, can I feed the goats today?" Perseus asked, battering his eyes to convince his mother.
"Of course, be careful and quick!"
Percy ran outside the comfort of their cave and reached for the bucket of leaves. He then started feeding the goats, as well as the other livestock that they had for sustenance. Perseus sensed something in the air, almost as if danger was near. The air turned to the foul stench of corpses, as the beautiful night sky turned into a dark shade of blood- red. Something was wrong, he could feel it.
Percy ran by the chickens to check how they were doing, but he was greeted to a horrible sight. Inside the nesting area, there was no chicken left alive. They were beaten to death, insides splattered throughout the room. There were intestines and organs all over the floor, as Perseus let out a shrill scream.
What could have done this? Perseus thought, frightened. Something with no morals or sense of life had been here, or was still here. Percy ran outside to check out the other livestock, yet they were all untouched. Only the chickens had suffered from the mysterious attack. Perce started to move from the barn, to go inside the cave to inform Rhea of what he saw. He started to jog, as rain started pattering onto the floor. This wasn't regular rain, though. It stung every time a drop fell onto Perseus, like an ant biting its victim. A loud roar split the eerie silence of the terrain. Perseus turned, and his jaw dropped.
A hundred yards away stood a 10 foot tall monster, with red and black skin. It had a singular horn in the middle of its head, and had bull-like facial components. Steam was radiating from the beast's nose, and the monster sported a thin layer of armor, likely made out of copper. The creature was menacing and hideous, looking like a creature from your worst nightmares.
What the hell is this...thing? Perseus this moment, his only thought was to distract the monster, so that it wouldn't harm his mom. The beast roared loudly, again, then leapt to action. In a mere 4 seconds, the monster covered 100 yards and knocked Perseus to the floor hard. Perseus looked up, his head ringing and seeing stars, and saw the beast open its mouth and roar yet again. Perseus blacked out from the pain.
