Disclaimer: If I owned this, Ace and Sabo would still be alive. *sniff* *sniff* And I wouldn't be writing this.
Okay, so my very first story! I have literally been watching One Piece since I can remember, thankfully on Funimation, and when I started to read, in Japanese. (But I still love you Colleen Clinkenbeard!) So here's my story, hope you guys enjoy it.
People always asked Zoro why he stayed with Luffy. Wondered why a pirate hunter like him would suddenly become one of the most wanted pirates in the world in the matter of a year.
They didn't understand, he scoffed. They never would. Luffy was different. Luffy was... Luffy. If the world didn't like that, it would have to change. It had already started to, whether or not it knew it. And he would be there for everything. He was there when it all started, and he would be there when it ended. Especially when Luffy became Pirate King. He had made a promise from the very beginning, and he was planning on keeping it.
Besides, he wasn't the only one. There was Nami, Sanji, Usopp, Robin, Chopper, Brook, and Franky. It was his job as First Mate to take care of all of them, including Luffy.
"Oi, Zooroo. Sanji kicked me out of the kitchen agaaain," he whined, sitting on top of the mast. "And I'm soooooo booored."
"That's because you have no self-control, you idiot," he muttered, dark eyes narrowing slightly. "If you eat too much, you won't be able to fight or become Pirate King. You want to become the Pirate King with a fat ass?" Luffy pouted. "No," he said, looking down at his sandals,"but I'm sooo hungry!" Zoro sighed.
"How about this," he bargained, knowing this probably wasn't going to turn out well for him. "I'll let you watch me train for the next month and I'll take you to an all you can eat buffet if you eat only what Sanji gives you until then. And, if you get really hungry, I'll sneak you some of my food. I promise." Luffy's face lit up with glee as he nodded furiously, brown eyes shining.
"Un! You better have a whoooole lot of money by then!" Even at an all you can eat buffet, they'd still have to pay a lot of money if Luffy was there. In is presence, food seemed to have existed for only a few seconds before it was inhaled by the stupid glutton. But there was no need to ask how he'd do it. He was Zoro, and Zoro always kept his promises. No matter what happened, Luffy could always depend on Zoro. And he knew that better than anyone else. He grinned at Zoro before jumping off to join Usopp and Chopper in their game of cards and proceeding to stomp all over said cards. Zoro watched in amusement before yawning. It was nap time.
Later on, the crews could only stare in wonder as Luffy waited patiently (as patiently as he could, anyways) and ate everything Sanji gave him without asking for more. Chopper immediately performed a check up, only to be confused when everything came up fine. Even Robin couldn't believe her eyes. So when Zoro walked in and Luffy jumped up to tug on his hands, they realized it must have been him. Zoro was the only one who could affect Luffy like this. He was his best friend after all. They shared similar grins as he was forced to sit down next to Luffy. They didn't need to know what happened. It was between those two, like it always was. So they simply enjoyed the show as Luffy annoyed Zoro constantly, asking if he did good and Zoro ruffling his hair like a little kid. "Yeah, you did good."
So, yeah. I always loved the relationship between those two, and totally loved the episode when Zoro took on Luffy's pain for him. Those moments make me smile. (^v^) Please review and leave comments! Constructive criticism appreciated!
