Chapter 1
When I was sent to live with my uncle at Misselwaite Manor, everybody said I was the most disagreeable-looking teenager that they had ever seen. It was true too. I had recently been orphaned, lost both my parents to a sickness in India. I was left alone in our little bungalow, forgotten by all the servants who had abandoned me. But that reaction wasn't completely knew to me. My own parents had often forgotten about me a number of times.
My mother was a beautiful woman, blonde, blue eyes, British. Her name was Beth Lennox, and she loved parties. She often came home with different men, it wasn't seen strange to see a man who wasn't my father in her bed.
Mum got away with it because Dad was always away for work. He wasn't very attractive, but rich. He often rejected Mum's whines, he thought her problems petty. Before they died, people used to tell me that my Dad only proposed to my Mum because she was pretty, and because of my uncle, Mr Craven's, estate. They also said that my mother only accepted because my father was rich. The only bad thing I've heard about them since they died was from a filthy boy just after their deaths saying my fathers choice to take my Mum under the sheets was how he caught the sickness that killed nearly our e whole household. I slapped that boy, hard, and screamed abuse at hi, until people had to pull the depressed, sobbing me away.
