Admiral Kirk sighed as he read some paperwork that the rest of the Admiralty thought needed his immediate attention. He squinted at the words as if to see if they would become more interesting. Luck did not change the paperwork for him. Admiral Kirk rubbed his mouth, frowning and missing the old days.

The Admiral's doorbell chimed. Kirk looked up in surprise, "Come in."

"Admiral." Greeted Spock as he entered the office.

"Captain." The Admiral smiled, "Feels odd to say that, admittedly."

"Indeed, Admiral." Captain Spock said, eyes locking with his friends. Something flickered between the two men. The older inclined his head, "She is doing well."

"Who would that be, Spock?" Kirk quirked a brow.

"The /Enterprise/ of course, Jim." Spock commented.

"I have no doubt. I left her to you, after all." The smile sparked in Kirk's eyes.

"To which, I still quite honored and why I take better care of her than you yourself did." Spock's eyes twinkled with amusement. Kirk chuckled and shook his head. Spock continued, "Though no matter how well I take care of her, Mr. Scott always seems to have an issue."

"That's only because he misses her so much."

"You make a logical point. How improbable."

"Are you going to tell me the odds of my stating something logical again?" Kirk teased.

"No, you would merely prove me wrong the next moment."

"Fair enough. And how are your cadets, Captain?"

"They are promising. However, Jim-"

"If you are going to lecture me-"

"I am not, I was merely going to state that I am anticipating their Kobayashi Maru tests."

"And I am anticipating grading them." Kirk paused, "Particularly your prodigy. Saavik, was it?"

"Indeed, Mr. Saavik is the most promising for the command and science departments. However, she is not my prodigy, Jim, merely my student." Spock concluded, watching his friend with curiosity.

"I see. Well, I'm about to go get some food, would you care to join me?" Kirk inquired as he stood.

"It would be more than acceptable to share a meal."

"But?"

"I must go see to our ship."

"Alright, Spock." Kirk nodded, heading for his door.

"Jim." Spock stopped him.

"Yes?" Kirk asked.

Spock presented him with an old, hard back book, "A present."

"Oh, thank you." Kirk gave him an appreciative gesture, placed it on a table near the door, and they exited the room, "I will see you soon, then, Captain Spock?"

"Indeed, Admiral, you shall." Spock replied. There was a parting smile and the corridor was soon empty.

Author's Note: Yesterday was the 47th anniversary/celebration of Spirk Day, and while I am a day late, I still wanted to honor this day and pairing. Also, I am posting today because it took me all of yesterday to write this little piece. Hope you enjoy.
