The Fire Among Us

Book 1: First Impressions
Prelude
The doors opened shining light in the dark room. The girl shielded her sensitive eyes from the onslaught of light. They were so used to the dark, that any amount of light hurt. One of the guards went into the room, took the girl's arms away from her face, and cuffed them.
The girl opened her eyes slowly, finding out that the light didn't hurt as much. She then looks up at the guard, the confusion apparent on her face.
"Lord Raki wishes to see you," the guard said, answering the question on her face. He led the girl out of her cell and towards the fire lord's throne room where they were joined by the other guard.
"Ah, the homo sapien." Lord Raki said as the guards came in with the girl.
"Why am I here?" The girl asked, "I thought my sentence doesn't end for another 3 days."
"I didn't say I was going to free you." Lord Raki smirked.
"I've been around you long enough to know better," the girl said.
"Well, first I want to talk about the incident." He said, the joking tone in his voice gone.
"What is there to talk about?" She asked furiously. "They were hurting me, I couldn't take it any more, and I snapped. End of story."
"I understand, but did you ever think of their family or how they would feel?" He asked sadly.
"I killed them!" She screamed alarmed.
"No, you only gave them serious burns, which you know that is not an easy thing to do here. But you nearly kill them and yourself. You need to make sure you don't snap." He advised her.
"Is there anything else?" She asked. He smiled.
"Yes. It's time," he said with a wave of his hand. The guards nodded and undid the cuff on her arms. She rubbed her sore arms as one of the guards typed the code that releases the bound on her back. She gasped in surprise as the needles that paralyzed her wings slowly retreated. She stretched her wings, almost hitting the guard. He frowned as he passed the other guard who was undoing the collar on her neck. She waited until the guard left before using her ability to control fire.
"You are to go to Earth, find the Teen Titans, and complete your mission." Lord Raki commanded.
"As you wish." She said before bowing then heading for the door.
"Be careful." He said when the girl got to the door.
"Why wouldn't I? You practically raised me."
"Your parents would be proud," he said. She nodded then headed out of the throne room.
"They should be, I hope," the girl whispered to herself as the door closed. When she got outside the palace she launched herself in the air.
"Ready or not here I come." She sneered as she flew through space towards Earth.
