Look beyond
Her witty attitude and eye-rolls
Acts like she doesn't care
But underneath it all,
She really does, care.

Her helpful smile and caring ways,
Always ready to help others.
But she's hurting too,
And needs someone to comfort her.

His calm attitude,
Says he's accepted his fate
But he hasn't, not really.
He's still scared of the inevitable.

His confident composure,
As he fearlessly leads them.
But he's terrified.
He can't lose someone else.

Look beyond
Her emotionless mask,
That shows no fear.
But she's mortified,
Thinking she's all on her own, like always.

Look beyond
His pranks and jokes,
Deemed immature by everyone else.
But all he wants is
For everyone to laugh and be happy again.

Look beyond
The novels she hides behind,
The words she quotes so often.
But she doesn't know what's to come,
And she can't just close the book now.
