AN – This is based on my story 'Marley Blue' It's a song fic based on 'Need You Now' by Lady Antebellum and takes place in 1943 when Damon asks for Marley's help again. I needed to think more about Marley and Damon's past in order to write more in my Marley Blue story and hence this Song fic was born, I hope you enjoy it and will rate and review both this short and the original Marley Blue story.
Marley woke up to the sound of the telephone ringing. Sleepily she picked the phone up and said a groggy "Hello?"
"Marlina?" That single word was enough to wake her up completely. "Damon, it's quarter past one in the morning?" She hadn't seen Damon since 1932 which had ended in an argument after a party, where Damon had said he was never going to call her again. It was now 1943
He always seemed to call her when she was finally getting over him.
"I know I said I was never going to call again, but I guess I'm a little drunk and well I need you Marlina." Damon said and Marlina could tell by the way he slurred a few of the words that he was indeed drunk. Marlina looked around the room she had occupied for the last couple of months. Her pictures were scattered everywhere having been torn from the book they had been drawn in. Damon was muttering words too soft for her to hear so she paid little attention to him while she picked up the ones nearest to her and began to put them back in order. "I've lost all control and I just need you now." He spoke louder now and Marlina sighed "I don't know what I do without you. Come to Boston." He said. Marlina assumed that was where he was now.
"I just need you now." He repeated, Marley had sworn she would never let him get to her again but instead of saying "No." she found herself saying "I'll think about it Damon." And hanging up the phone.
Now wide awake she began to collect the rest of her drawings off the floor and stuck them back into the book. Sighing she looked down at the first drawing she had ever done of them together, in this one they were both smiling and happy. She'd drawn this one about two months after her transition into a vampire. "Well I guess I'd rather hurt than feel nothing at all." She said to herself and in a matter of minutes she had all the belongings she would need and was out the door heading for Boston. I wonder if I ever cross your mind Marley thought as she ran at inhuman speed to the train station where she proceeded to catch a train to Boston. For me it happens all the time.
