The Sight From Above

Prologue : The Man In White
'Everyone is alone, little boy. Everyone is…empty.'
The small boy looked up at the man in white. The boy's tear-streaked visage seemed to break into a small, watery smile, as he clutched the man's legs, snuggling against the smooth fabric. The man in white smiled. Reaching down to the little boy's head, he ruffled his dark hair, before lifting him up to his shoulders.
The boy let a surprised squeak as his legs slid over either side of the man's shoulders. He soon however, became quiet as the beauty of the view in front of him made itself known.
Perched atop the man's shoulders, the boy stared at the scene, eyes wide with awe. From the balcony, the vast expanse stretched out in front of the two of them, as they quietly observed.
Neither said a word for a long time.
'When you look down on the world from this height…do you not see? Even the most uninspiring of scenery looks breath-taking…that…that is the beauty of standing above…'
And even as the wind pushed the man's fringe back, the two of them stood quietly, a small smile playing on both their places.
The young man labelled by a mere number smiled. Even after all these years, all these years, the man's words rung in his head. The soft tenor of his voice as it melded into the wind, the quiet, curious eyes, taking in all there was to see…
He looked into the scope.
'Don't be afraid of the height…embrace it. Drink in the undeniable beauty.'
He looked away, as his fingers caressed the cold button on his cell-phone.
'And you will soon bask in it, my friend. You will stand in quiet elation as events unfold.'
The receiver next to him crackled to life quite suddenly, though the young man could immediately recognize his compatriot's gusto in the message.
"Yo! Time to go boom!"
'Do not…be afraid. Do not turn your head away, or shy away from your work. Witness it, stand by it, through success and failure….'
He turned back momentarily to glance at the view, one that would soon be marred. The silence crashed down on him, almost deafening him for a split-second. And then, the silence vanished.
Everyone is alone, after all. Everyone is…empty.
He was tired of it.
'Area stress level increased. We advise you to go home and try to relieve stress. Area stress level increased. We adv-'
Shuusei Kagari turned towards the officer, a grimace coating his expression.
"Now, Officer Ginoza, about that break…"
End.
All righty then. First off, I have no idea where I'm going with this. It was just something that started off randomly. A special thank you to Cinerus Yukine (Check her out on Google Plus. And I'm sorry if you're a boy, Yukine-san :| ...) for uploading a picture that sparked off my train of imagination.
I'm not expecting reception for this, since this is a small fandom. Stick around, and please drop a review by, telling me if you loved or hated it.
Cheers, and hopefully see you at the end of the first chapter.
:D
