A Reeve/Yuffie poem, which nariosaw coaxed me into posting. :P
Games
Two children playing children's games
somewhere in the back
somewhere in the shadows
Not a single person noticed
-or if they did,
they certainly paid no heed-
And they all thought that yes,
an invitation to the circus and cotton candy were a perfectly normal
abnormal
birthday present
and really,
toothy smiles and sudden hugs were really casual and trivial,
especially after a bloody shuriken, a pack of wolves
and a body shielding another
-a much smaller body-
no, perfectly normal
that's how a friend should act,
of course,
and after all, it's ninja honor
-although forgotten when it comes to round and shiny-
but then,
there came a day
-late evening in fact, and so bloody rainy-
when they did notice something:
that the children were adults
and they were playing a little too dangerously
a brush against a cheek
a blush on that same cheek
dark eyes and grey eyes playing hide an seek just like their owners
a murmured word
this is wrong
a nod and a murmured reply
I know
And then dark brown caught a glimpse of grey
and there were no more words-
because occasionally
adults
and children
like playing an adult's game.
Reviews are love, and I'm sure you could use a little exta karma... :D
