Fated to fight, fated to die;
Held in chains, away from the sky
Doomed to be demons, hunters of men;
They live in the dark caves, under the fen.
Fated to kill, fated to bite;
Their unearthly walk moves through the night.
Men who have seen them hide and shiver,
After seeing and hearing the hiss and slither.
Fated to come, fated to steal
Those lives from the men who harnessed the wheel
Unconditionally hated here and there
Damned by a killer who could not care
Fated to run, fated to weep
By a man who has fallen under the sleep
Killed by the hero, left to rot
A horrible, dark, demonic lot.

This was me NOT working in English class. I rather like it, even if it never actually mentions Beowulf, Grendel, or Grendel's Mum. (Or Cain, but at least he's referenced)
