***A FAILED SUICIDE***

Note: this story is very short. so don't bother me about that.

Cody had never been so happy before in his life. he had been a successful lawyer most of his life and hi pension was only a year away!!! How could anything get better?

But now, he's in the secretary's office, waiting for the boss to talk to him. Cody thinks the boss would perhaps congratulate him for his work. Other than that, Cody has no clue what the boss would want to say to him.

"He'll see you now" the overweight secretary interrupted Cody's thoughts.

"Oh thank you" Cody says as he gets up out of the chair and walks toward the door. He opens the door and steps inside. The boss is sitting in a tiny chair behind a BIG desk and stuffing his face with a Twinkie.

"You sent for me sir?" Cody asks.

"Mmm...Wha a minut..." the boss swallows the Twinkie with a sick gulp. "Ah, yes please sit down over on that chair Cody."

Cody motions to the chair the boss points to and sits down. The boss looks at him in a weird-ass way. Cody's heart starts to beat faster. What could he want him for?

"Well, Cody, I know you've been with this law firm for a number of years, but I'm afraid theres no place for you in the scheme of things...."

Cody's eyes bug out. "You mean I'm fired?!"

"Basically..." the boss concludes.

"But I'm only a year away for my pension!" Cody freezes. He can't even talk straight anymore. His mind is racing like crazy. If he's fired now, his life will be over! He might even become homeless!

"And I'm late for a lunch appointment! No--don't get out of your chair Cody. You take whatever time you need to compose yourself!" the boss laughs as he walks out of the room. With the slam of the door Cody completely breaks down.

"...only....only a year away!" Cody howls and snorts, "How can this happen so quickly!? ::sob:: my life is over...."

Cody looks up. He sees the big window across the room. the room that happens to be 10 stories high in the sky. Cody doesn't even think about the consequences of his actions, he slowly walks toward the open window.

"Theres...nothing left to live for..." with those words, Cody jumps. He falls very quickly and on impact, everything goes black....

After what seems like forever, Cody opens his eyes to see whirling lights and the familiar face of his best friend he works with at his job, Charlie. Cody realizes he's on a stretcher and wrapped up in gauze like a mummy. He's getting ready to be wheeled into the back of a hospital truck.

"Ch-Charlie? I'm still alive?" Cody whispers to Charlie.

"Its freak luck!" Charlie chuckles, "You landed on the boss and killed the little bastard! Now, I'm the president and you're getting a promotion!"
