When I was young I was told that the war was how the Fire Nation spread our greatness. I had always believed that, until I saw reality.

My brother and sister never got along, but I never knew that my sister Azula would go as far as saying that Zuko, my brother, was going to be killed by dad.

Azula has always been a liar, and I'm pretty sure that she always will be. Zuko was sitting in my bed with me crying because he couldn't find mom.

All my life Azula has been close with my dad while Zuko was like that with mom. I'm just that one lone child who is on her own. I'm always compared to Azula. Not only is she my sister but she's my twin, the 'better' one at that. While she's tall, I'm short. While she has thick black hair mine is red, I still don't know why that is. And we're both fire benders but of course she's 'better' at it.

"Zuko it's fine. Mom is fine. She's probably just out taking a walk in the garden; you know how much she loves the turtle-ducks."

I didn't know how wrong that would be.

Of all of the things to happen the worst have. My grandfather Firelord Azulon has passed away and it has been confirmed that mom is missing.
Zuko is of course sad but to hide that he's turned into a huge jerk. And well Azula is still Azula, she's still mean to everyone.

My uncle Iroh has returned from the war and arrived home to find out that he had his birth right taken away. Now my father is Firelord and he is definitely using it to his advantage.

He has banished a servant who accidentally spilled water on the floor that couldn't clean it up fast enough.

My thoughts were pushed out of the way when I saw Zuko coming out of the war meeting with my father. I had been waiting out here for at least an hour. But usually these things last a few. This can't be good.

"Zuko what happened?" He jumped when he heard me but continued to walk.

"Zuko?" I started to follow him when he just continued.

"Zuko stop!" Now he stopped.

"What do you want? Stop being a baby for once and do it yourself." Not only were his words harsh but so was his tone. What did I do?

"I am not a baby! I just wanted to find out what happened in there! Agni, ever since mom has disappeared you've turned into a big jerk!" I took a pause and turned back around. "She's my mom too you know?" A single teardrop fell down my cheek. I started to walk away when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Hold on Jia," He spun me around to face him. "I'm sorry. I just miss her. And I'm doing an Agni Kai against a war general. He thinks that it's okay to kill an entire innocent fleet of soldiers." My heart nearly stopped at Agni Kai. The war general is most likely old but Zuko isn't exactly a prodigy in fire bending.

"Prince Zuko! Come on you must get ready!" Our conversation was stopped when Uncle came out of the meeting with a scared look on his face. He took Zuko by the shoulder and lead him to his room.

The rest is history. Zuko decided not to fight because it was Oazi he would face. For that he was scarred and banished to find the avatar.
