A/N: "Subordination" by Limey Ryuuichi Sakuma sort of inspired me to write this, and I strongly suggest reading it.

You are dirt to me, the earth beneath my feet, the ground I walk on. You do not complain. You do not speak. How can you? You have no face, no mouth. Whether my steps be light and slow, soft, easy, considerate… whether they be hard and fast, pounding, slamming, hurting… whether they be whatever they be, they are my steps. They are my steps that you love, that you live for. That is why you are here, to hold me up, and so my steps do not break you. They cannot because you will not let them. The ground does not dissolve into sand beneath me that I should sink. Firm, solid, you remain, always. Secretly, hidden in the magma of your soul, you hold an arcane desire… that one day, briefly, I should lose you. After all, the only time anyone really appreciates the ground is when his footing is taken away from him. What would I do…once I regained you, my foundation? Would I stand, gracing you with only the touch of my feet as before? You do not know because the ground cannot know things. I refuse to show how much I need you, so much more than one needs a place to walk upon. You do not know I would kneel and kiss you, precious earth. As a man lost at sea kisses the island of his salvation, I would kiss you. I do love you. Sometimes even I forget. Because the ground is so widely used, it is often taken for granted.

A/N: So yeah... I think it's maybe a little OOC of Orochimaru to think this, but really it was only very loosely based off of him to begin with. Also, originally I intended him to be referring to Kabuto, but then I realized this could easily have been done for Kimimaru as well, so I left it open.

Tell me what you think?

I'm just looking for one word: a name. Who do you think fits best as the "you"?
