Lone Star

Lone Star

I gaze up at the bright stars,

With eyes of green almonds,

Hidden by countless scars.

Among the tiny diamonds.

My heart cries out to my people,

Unrestrained by my warrior mind,

I don't want this to be a heroic fable,

I want to be home, to see my kind.

A lone star,

Shining glistering tears.

Distant, almost invisible from afar,

Yet relieving my darkest fears.

My home is with the star,

But with my fellow warriors, my mind and heart,

Our bond unbreakable, though marred by scars.

My family I miss; my human friends I could never part.
