He had had enough. Enough of the pureblood maniacs. He was leaving.
'Sirius. Please don't,' a voice begged.
Sirius did not reply, but kicked the main door open.
'Please, listen to me Sirius. Please,' the voice said again.
'No,' breathed Sirius, his heart thumping loudly. 'I can't stay. I cannot.'
'Please, Sirius…don't do this to me…' the voice cracked, and finally Sirius turned to face his father.
'Why not?' Sirius said harshly. 'You don't love me, you aren't proud of me, why should I stay?'
'Sirius, don't say that. It's not true. I love you, I always have,' Orion Black croaked.
'Then why didn't you ever try to convince Mother that being in Gryffindor and socializing with Muggleborns was okay?' Sirius demanded.
Orion looked his son straight in the eye. 'I did. Over and over again. She tortured me again and again. I never gave up. I never healed the cuts I got. For they were the wounds of love.'
At that, Sirius's heart melted. He looked at Orion as though he had never seen him before. He felt tears welling up in his eyes, and he made no movement to wipe them.
Orion stepped forwards and raised a hand. He wiped the tears of his son, tears in his own eyes. On impulse, Sirius pulled his father into an embrace.
'Will you stay, Sirius? For me, for Regulus?' Orion asked.
'I'm sorry, Dad. I cannot. I love you. Let me go,' Sirius said.
Orion nodded. 'Goodbye, Sirius.'
Sirius turned to face the open door. 'Goodbye, Daddy.' Then he left.
