Wide, brown eyes stared in awe at the creature trapped behind the glass. Small hands and face pressed against the barrier between them, the young boy watched as the much larger dragon paced around its confinements, occasionally puffing out smoke and fire in annoyance at its situation. Though, in retrospect, its situation was much pleasanter than the one it had been in before. The Welsh Green was part of a hidden, magical rescue zoo that was home to many injured or disabled magical creatures. The dragon was just one of its more irritable residents.

It didn't take long for the Welsh to turn its attention to the watchers. Letting out a roar, it blew a considerable fire ball at the glass, sending people scrambling backwards. The little boy was fastest of them all, tripping back over himself before turning and putting himself behind his father's legs, thankful for the added protection.

Not that there was much to be protected from. The glass between the people and the dragon was spelled to be fire proof, and therefore safe. That wasn't something that the five year old Fabian Prewett understood yet though. He knew what magic was, and that his mum liked to use it to make dinner, but other than that it was just one big mystery to him.

Seeing that the dragon's attention was back on itself and the pit it was trapped in, Fabian edged forward again to press his hands and face back against the glass which, thanks to the protective spells, was still cool to the touch. He didn't get to watch much longer though, as his father called him a moment later. Glancing back, the boy could see that his mother, baby brother, and sister were on up ahead, looking at a unicorn while his father stood between them clearly waiting for him to hurry up.

"But…"

The quiet protest went unheard as Fabian turned his face back to the glass, brown eyes tracking the dragon's movements as it continued its paces around the cage.

Strong hands suddenly scooped the boy up, lifting him up and up until Fabian was placed on his father's shoulders.

"Daaaa!" Was the whined response as he twisted, keeping his eyes on the dragon for as long as he could. His complaints weren't heeded though, as his father kept walking, holding onto his knees to make sure he didn't go tumbling down with all his squirming.

"Hold still rascal or your ma will have my head."

Huffing, Fabian straightened up and slumped, resting against the back of his father's head.

"But I wanna watch the dragon moreeee."

Chuckling, Bryn squeezed his son's knees comfortingly. "You'll get to see it on the way out. We still have more to see."

"Promise?"

As Bryn nodded, Fabian relaxed, finally turning his attention to the rest of the wizarding zoo. It was, after all his first time there and there were plenty of other interesting creatures to see, aside from the great big fire breathing dragon.
