Far Roads

Disclaimer: I don't own the Kongo Twins or Eyeshield 21.

Author's Note/Summary: This was my intake of trying to delve slightly deeper into Unsui and Agon's relationship. Based on the Episode 110.

"Dammit!" Unsui repeatedly pounded his left fist onto the ground, on his knees. His body shook as his other fist clutched onto a paper, one that left him scarred. Tears slid down his face uncontrollably, as he thought about the paper. "Why! Why is it always Agon? Why is it never me?" They mistaken him for Agon because of him being the elder twin, they given him hope, yet crashed it when he went to confirm it. Getting into Shinryuuji with a football recommendation was his dream.

Footsteps rang loud in Unsui's ears the moment his last tear dropped from his eyes, footsteps that he long since heard to tell apart from others. "Did you come to laugh at me?" He turned around to face the one Shinryuuji really wanted, his twin brother, Kongo Agon.

Agon didn't know what brought him there to face Unsui in his current state. "Ah…maybe." Agon's gaze darted to the paper clutched mercilessly in Unsui's right hand, though he didn't show it, he knew exactly what it was.

Unsui lifted his own gaze to stare Agon directly in the eye, getting into a standing position. Admitting to himself a long time ago that Agon was better than he was killed him inside. He wondered many times since he could remember why Agon learned everything as easily as he did. When they learned of the God Speed Impulse, that was the first time Unsui had seen Agon express a true expression of delight. Maybe that's when I first realized, that maybe I was born to help Agon reach his true potential when I realized that no matter what I did, I never could catch up to him no matter how hard I tried.

Shaking his head after a moment of silence, Unsui spoke, "Don't look back on those without talent. In a world of competency, sympathy won't save anyone." Unsui turned his back to Agon the same time that Agon started walking away. "Forge ahead by crushing the ordinary man. Believe in your ability that borderlines violence. Only then, will I be rewarded." Regardless of how hard he tried, he could not stop the onslaught of tears raining down from his eyes.

Agon couldn't explain the feeling that erupted in his chest at watching Unsui act the way he did. Never once could he remember Unsui feeling as bad as he was, even with how much trouble he forced upon him. Continuing his stride, he uttered these words, meaning it sincerely with no hint of foulness in him. "That's my intention even without you telling me." Perhaps somewhere Agon realized that Unsui guided him throughout his life, taking faults for him left and right. The unexplained feeling lifted from him the moment he spoke his last sentence.

Unsui turned around, watching Agon walk farther away from him. It's ironic, Unsui smiled to himself, his heart too, feeling lighter than it was a while ago. "Watching you walk away as the distance gets farther and farther, that is how our skills have always been." His words drifted along the wind, barely reaching Agon who paused slightly before continuing.

I will help my brother be the ultimate player. Even if it means that I will take on the responsibility for every wrong he does

This could dangerously be said to be OOC on Agon's part, but I tried to incorporate things that Unsui feels from what I've seen in the anime. It's really tough writing the Kongo Twins and trying to make sure they're in character. These are just my intake, however, so other opinions regarding them may vary.
