This is a poem, a sonnet for and about Russa Nodrey (from the novel The
Long Patrol), after she died, written as if by Tamello De Fformelo Tussock
(Tammo). It took quite some time, and it's my first Redwall poem in quite
a while, so please read and review! ~Sarah
Sonnet to My Matey Russa
Ole Russa was a beast with fur so red,
A squirrel wanderer all on her own.
She saved my life; right now I should be dead.
But now she's gone and I feel all alone.
There is a piece now missing from my soul,
To me, she was a warrior, a friend,
The one who brought me to the Long Patrol,
So perilous until the very end.
Against all evil, strong, she'd always stand.
A hard wood stick, she carried all her days,
To help defend all goodbeasts in the land.
I still ask why we had to part our ways.
I'll keep ole Russa Nodrey in my heart,
For in my life, she played a major part.
