Eduard sighed. "Ivan, you do realize that your computer was just unplugged, don't you? The man in question blinked at him, nothing but bewilderment in his eyes, his mouth slightly open, as if in shock. He blinked.
"That is just this cord in the back, da?" He poked at the offending cord with his foot.
"Yup. That's the one." Eduard resisted the urge to facepalm. Sometimes he really, truly wondered about Ivan – one moment he could be laughing his ass off because he'd beaten you so thoroughly at chess or having a heated argument with his boyfriend about who could build the better rocket (real rocket, mind you), and the next moment he was bewildered by a power cord. He wasn't quite sure what to believe anymore.
"Well, if that was all…" Eduard trailed off, though his meaning was clear. Although spending time with his cousin and his cousin's boyfriend, Alfred, wasn't entirely unpleasant, sometimes even fun, he did have to get back home. He'd already spent hours fiddling with the computer, trying every possible alternative because it just wasn't possible that someone wouldn't notice that their computer wasn't plugged in.
"Oh! But Eduard, you should stay for a while! We could get you something to drink…" Eduard opened his mouth to protest, but Ivan had already called Alfred into the room.
"Hey, Eduard, did you find out what was wrong?" The facepalm urge resurfaced.
"Uh, yes. Your computer was unplugged." Alfred went through a similar reaction, utter, wide eyed, open mouthed shock. He glanced at Ivan, who nodded knowingly.
"Wow, thanks, Eduard! Seems a little silly, huh?" He scratched his head sheepishly, and he and Ivan both laughed. Eduard died a little on the inside. "So, can you stay for drinks?"
"Well, uh…" Eduard began.
"Oh!," Alfred clearly wasn't listening. "Before you go, can you look at this internet connection?" Eduard sighed.
"Alright, that's it." Eduard was starting to feel a little self-conscious. Alfred and Ivan had been leaning in, one staring over each of his shoulders, ooh-ing and ahh-ing over literally everything he did. It'd been a little harder than he'd expected – something even he'd never seen before. He even needed to get out his own computer to set it up. But, he supposed, at least he was done. He rubbed his eyes.
"Thanks so much, Eduard! Oh, and here's that drink we promised you. We won't keep you any longer, if you don't want to stay. You've been so much help." Alfred was positively glowing as he handed over a tall glass of surprisingly delicious lemonade (with a hint of vodka?), and Eduard didn't feel so bad about spending his afternoon helping them. And by the time he'd left, Alfred and Ivan made sure, he was feeling as warm and fuzzy as if he'd spent the day rescuing kittens.
As soon as Estonia left (and had been witnessed safely driving away), Alfred turned to Ivan.
"Vanya, did you get them?" He'd covered his mouth with his hand and was whispering conspiratorially in his boyfriend's ear, despite the fact that they were the only two people in the Russian's massive house. Ivan turned and nodded, a triumphant glint in his eyes.
"That internet connection ruse worked very well, da?"
"Oh, yessss! Now that we have Eduard's passwords, we can hack the living crap out of him! This'll be the best prank ever! You know what? I bet we'll totally get away with it. Heh. As if we couldn't tell whether or not our computer was plugged in." Alfred laughed, and upon seeing his smile, Ivan felt one of his own spread across his own face. He giggled. He cared very little about "hacking the living crap" out of his cousin, but the way that Alfred said "our", and "we" … that would never get old.
(A/N: Hello, readers! Just a silly oneshot... By the way, I was thinking about maybe doing requests or challenges of some sort… so, if anyone feels like having a request filled by me (lol), you can leave it in a review, and I'll try my best! :D)
