No one would expect that THE Daidaoji Tomoyo—always full of smiles that could brighten everyone's day—could hate something as fun as the element of SURPRISE.
But, Oh! Sorry to shatter their expectations. She hates them. Wait! That would be an understatement. SHE. LOATHES. THEM.
Why? Here's why:
1. Because of surprises, she wasn't able to prepare herself when Sakura and Syaoran announced their wedding at the age of twenty. Guess they were just too in-love to wait for a year or two longer.
2. Because of surprises, she wasn't able to prepare herself—or stop her mother—from having dinner dates with heirs from different companies. Apparently, her mother wanted to give her away ever since she took the responsibility of being the Daidaoji Toy Company heiress: and
3. Because of stupid surprises, she wasn't able to prepare herself—or heart—when she found herself falling for her dear friend, Eriol Hiiragizawa.
Yup, she oh so hates them!
If you don't get it, then let me enlighten you then…
1. History was repeating itself. Just as Sonomi lost Nadeshiko to Sakura's father, she was losing Sakura to that Li kid—and she didn't like it one bit!
2. All the guys she has met were jerks. Always trying to impress her with their riches and whatnots. God! They always manage to snap something inside her.
3. Unfortunately, the man she likes is rumored to be infatuated with another woman who goes by the name Kaho Mizuki. Ah, unrequited love. STUPID SAPPY ROMANCE!
Ok, now that everything's clear, let's go to the story.
It's September 9—Tomoyo's birthday. As usual, she and her bestfriend Eriol ( yes, now her bestfriend is Eriol. Can't blame her. Because of those bloody Li rules, Sakura was taken away from her and was brought to the Li clan's territory—Hong Kong ) went out to get some ice cream then went to his house *ahem* mansion *ahem* to celebrate her birthday with Nakuru and Spinel. As usual, when they arrived there, Nakuru was just placing the last of all the wonderful dishes she made especially for Tomoyo's special day. Happy that nothing changed, she immediately went inside together with Eriol. Right after their lunch, Eriol excused himself saying he would just go pick up his gift for Tomoyo and that he would be back soon. He did just as he said. After thirty minutes, he came back—a box with a ribbon ( Tomoyo's gift ) on one hand and another plain white box on the other. Right after they all gave their gifts to Tomoyo, Eriol motioned for her to follow him. They went to the garden. There, he handed her the white box he was holding. She gladly accepted it. When she opened it, SHOCK ( and that's in all caps ) was written all over her face. Inside was a white dress and a small velvet box with a note saying "Marry me."
A forced smile from her.
She said "You know I hate surprises--"
He looked down, asking God to suck all the life out of him
"—but I'm starting to change my mind."
His head shot up.
And on their faces were sincere smiles.
