Height Difference
Friends.
Team.
The general public
Gender.
Age.
These were all things Ian took into account when he thought over the pros and cons of being with Spencer. What he didn't take into account though…was the height difference.
Spencer stood at a mighty 6'3".
…Ian stood at a not so mighty 4'9"
At first this fact didn't bother him. But now, as he stood next to Spencer; with Spencers arm draped around his shoulders….it irked him. It irked him a lot. Because while it wasn't awkward for Spencer to have his arm around Ian (it was very natural and so it looked fine) it was incredibly awkward for Ian because his arm went around Spencers waist. At least…it was supposed to. But being so short, whenever he tried to return the act of putting his arm around his boyfriend, his hand not-so-appropriately landed right on Spencers ass. Not such a bad thing when they were alone but a really bad thing in public.
A really bad thing.
And another thing!!! Have you ever tried kissing someone way taller than you!?
Ian discovered kissing was going to be a pain in the ass to do.
They couldnt kiss while standing unless Ian stood on his very tippy toes and Spencer bent way way the fuck down. It looked and felt so fucking awkward. Kissing while sitting down was better, though still a tad of a stretch. Kissing was supposed to be enjoyable and while he loved having an excuse to lay in bed with Spencer(because kissing was really only fantastic when they were laying down and Ian could move about), kissing while standing or in public would also be a nice thing to get to enjoy.
Hand holding. Ian felt more like Spencers son than his boyfriend, standing there holding his hand. And that's also what people seemed to assume when they looked at the two of them. That in itself was both a pro and a con. It was a pro because they never got any rude comments or angry stares for holding hands. But it was a con because then if Spencer bent to give Ian a kiss, people freaked out and started screaming "PEDOPHILE!!!"
The height difference was a bitch.
It made simple things, like kissing and holding hands, into a big deal.
But even despite all the cons, there were some not-so-bad things about the height difference.
They were little things. Things people generally didn't see. Like how comforting Ian was easy for Spencer because he could pick him up and hold him, or kneel down and talk to him without having to find a suitable sitting area like most couples did. Or how if Ian got afraid (as he often did when outside at night), Spencer (by being so tall) put fear in the hearts of those who would even think to hurt Ian. So protecting him was easy…
But out of all of that, his favorite pro to being short?
Lets just say Spencer gives really awesome piggyback rides.
