Merry Christmas to Me

Was it because of the holiday? Bonnie Bennett had absolutely no idea. She didn't even know something was going on until she was on his doorstep about to give him a thorough lashing for his break up with Elena when the unexpected happened.

Damon Salvatore wasn't going to answer the door. He knew it was Bonnie and she was the last person he wanted to see or talk to. Then she screamed and he was up out of his sit in a vampire flash opening the door.

She bent over in obvious pain and without thinking Damon picked her up and took her inside.

Bonnie didn't feel the pain anymore. The moment Damon touched her it was gone, but as quickly as it disappeared it was back when Damon put her down on the leather couch and moved away. She reached out and grabbed Damon's hand and he just stared at her like she'd lost her mind. Only holding his hand wasn't enough.

"Damon please I know you don't understand what is going on, but when you held me it stopped." Damon could feel her tugging him to her and he relented. He sat down next to her and was even more confused when Bonnie climbed into his lap.

"Could you just hold me until the pain is gone, please." The little witch never begged him for anything, but she was now and this made him very intrigued and powerful to say the least.

"What would Elena and Jeremy think of us like this?" Bonnie looked up into his smirking face with tears streaming down her face.

"They would understand because they know there are consequences to being the anchor." Her breathing hitched from the crying and the pain.

"What do you mean consequences? Elena didn't say anything to me about those." Bonnie smiled at him.

"Come on Damon you know there's always consequences to the things we do. I brought Jeremy back from the dead and died in get me back Amara died and I took her place. I will feel every supernatural death to come which a very painful existence for the rest of my life." Damon listened and figured out on his own what was different today.

"So me touching you, holding you takes away that torture?"

"Yes. I don't know why? You just did and for once I wanted to be selfish and hold on to my chance to make the pain bearable." She started to move off his lap, but Damon wouldn't let her. Something in his dead soul stirred deep within. There was a time he wouldn't give a damn about her or anyone if it didn't have anything to do with protecting Elena.

"You have sacrificed more than anyone in this game against the bad evils that come to Mystic Falls Bonnie. Now you have to suffer to be alive. Be selfish all you want. I'll touch you. I'll hold you until you don't need me anymore no matter what." She never would've thought Damon would be like this with her. Helping her no questions or ultimatums. Bonnie hugged him tight.

"Thank you Damon."

"Yeah, yeah. Merry Christmas to me already."
