Hojo stood by the door to Kagome's house. His mother had made her a get well basket. He rang the doorbell, and stood nervously. Sota, Kagome's younger brother, opened the door. "Hello? is Kagome home?" Hojo asked. Sota's eyes widened. "Err- she's in bed right now. Arthritis." Hojo sighed. "Yeah, well tell her to call me when she's better, okay?" He handed Sota the basket, then walked away.


Hojo leaned against against the wall outside the movie theater, waiting. Kagome was an hour late. Hojo kicked the ground, and slowly walked away. He went home and sat alone, almost wishing she would call, give him a believable excuse. She never did.


Hojo Sat next to Kagome in the restaurant. The silence that hung over them certainly wasn't comfortable. Her eyes were distracted, and Hojo knew she wasn't thinking about him. He felt irritation build inside of him. He was just about to say something, when Kagome stood up. "Sorry, I have to go home, it's getting late." She hurried out, and Hojo looked at the clock. One pm. He didn't bother saying goodbye.


Hojo sat at Kagome's kitchen table. Her mother walked up. "I'm sorry. Kagome isn't feeling well." Sota jumped up. "But I thought she was with-" Kagome's mother slapped a hand over his mouth and smiled. Hojo stayed for tea, then walked home, hands in pockets.


Hojo Sat on a bench outside the school. He would ask Kagome again today. Sure, she would probably stand him up, but she was worth it. Hojo went to gym, eyes hopeful.
