Hello Dear
Days after the curse is broken...
Regina tried stay busy around the house to avoid thinking about Henry so much. It was futile really. Every waking thought was on getting her son back.
She heard a pounding on her door. She sneered and cut her eyes towards the door. It was probably another resident coming to threaten her life. She wouldn't back down from a fight. She put her mask up and walked swiftly. She jerked the door opened and visibly paled at the person.
"Hello dear," the voice said.
"Maleficent. What are you doing here?"
A smirk crossed her features. "Dear, is that any way to greet an old friend?"
Regina sighed. "What do you want?"
"Just wanted to catch up and to also see this town since I was kept in a prison for this entire time. And from what I've seen and heard, you aren't the most likeable person."
"Thanks for telling me something I already know," she clipped. She leaned against the door frame. "How do I know you aren't going to try and kill me for what I did to you?"
"You're my only friend," she said repeating Regina's words. Regina blinked.
"Come in," she said moving aside.
Maleficent eyed the place. She had to admit the house suited Regina. "You haven't lost your flair."
Regina led her to the living room. "I do like nice things." They sat across from each other waiting for the other to say what needed to be addressed.
"Why did you do it?" Maleficent asked. "Why trap me in my true form?"
"You tried to stop me from casting this curse and getting my revenge," she argued.
Maleficent sat up straighter. "Only because I knew what it would do to you. It was going to leave a hole in your heart. You were never going to be truly satisfied because you didn't have the person you truly wanted."
"Don't go there," Regina sneered. Her bringing up Daniel always made her a little on edge.
"Was it worth it?" she asked bluntly. "Did you exact your revenge on Snow and make her life miserable?"
"For a while I had her where I wanted her," Regina replied.
Maleficent glanced at the picture of Henry sitting above the fireplace mantle. She went over to it and picked it up.
"Cute boy," she said. "Seems like you found someone to help pass the time." Regina snatched the picture out of her hand.
"He's my son. Henry," she said.
Maleficent smiled. "After your father...how sweet. Where is this Henry?"
Regina bristled. "With Prince Charming. He is Henry's grandfather," she responded turning from her. She could hear her friend chuckling.
"Oh my. How did you manage that?" she asked. Regina turned around and sent her a death glare. "Come now, you would laugh if another person was in the exact same position. It is ironic."
"Get out of my house," she said in a threatening but it came as a mere whisper. Maleficent grew serious.
"I could have helped you. You didn't have to go through this alone. But you are stubborn to a fault," she said. "Even though you didn't heed my warning you managed. So was it worth it?"
"Yes," she answered. "I got my son and I don't regret being his mother. Now, my son wants to live with the Charmings. I'm trying to be worthy of my son. I'm trying to redeem myself."
Maleficent nodded. Regina bit her lip. "I'm sorry. You were right about everything. I thought I-
"Apology accepted. From what I know, I'm the only person willing to defend you. We can bury the hatchet," she said sincerely.
Regina felt she could trust Maleficent. "I would like that."
Maleficent smiled again. "Now what are we going to do to get Henry back?"
