TITLE: Night Shift

RATING: T

PAIRING: Spike/Drusilla

TIMELINE/SPOILERS: Somewhere in NYC in 1981.

DISCLAIMERS: All BtVS characters are the property of Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy Productions. I'm just giving Spike some more face time!

CREDITS: Lyrics from "Night Shift" by Siouxsie and the Banshees

AUTHOR'S NOTES: In honor of Siouxsie Sioux's birthday today, I thought I'd scribble this silly little thing. I'm afraid I didn't research to see if the Banshees really were in NYC during 1981, but let's just pretend a bit. Also, if you're not really a fan of old-school punk/goth music, you might need to Google the "Bromley Contingent" to get an idea of the players in this story (or to understand their connections). Enjoy!

"Dru, come on."

Spike tried to tug his lover out of the venue to no avail. Not now, with those first chords.

"But she wrote this for me!"

Oh God, not this again. "She did not, you daft bint. Now let's go before I run into..."

Bollocks.

"Oi, mate! You leavin' so soon?"

Now that Billy found him, he knew he'd be trapped there for sure. Obsessive wanker.

"You know she wrote this song for your bird, right?"

Spike held his head in his hands as the siren's voice began:

...

Only at night time I see you

In darkness, I feel you

A bride by my side, I'm inside many brides

Sometimes I wonder

What goes on in your mind...

...

Drusilla twirled her hands, writhing her way toward the stage.

Billy looked at Spike, who peeked back at him for a second through the spaces between his fingers.

...

I'll put it out of my mind because

I'm out of my mind with you

In heaven and hell with you

...

If that tosser didn't stop looking at him like that, he'd snap his neck. Yes, he would. Definitely, this time.

...

Looking so sweet to me

Please come to me

With your cold flesh, my cold love

Hissing, not kissing

...

"You're gonna come see me play next week, right?" he asked Spike eagerly.

Spike groaned inside.

"Wrote a song for you on the new album," Billy said, waiting to see if the vampire would take the bait.

He did.

"You gonna play it, then?"

Billy nodded.

They looked out over the crowd to see Drusilla capturing the lovely singer in her thrall for a moment as the final beats of the song played out.

What was that saying again? Some shite about imitation being the highest form of flattery?

Yeah, Spike and Dru would be there.
