Work
She shouldn't have been here with him. It was too sudden.
She was from Sand.
He was from Leaf.
She began to feel his intense stare. Avert your eyes, damnit! She avoided any eye contact with him. This situation they were in—it was just too weird. Things were supposed to be normal between them, but now they weren't.
Why? Just why was she even here?
That's right. Temari was sent as the Sand representative to Konoha and Shikamaru was to be her guide. He was only meant to be her guide, and she was only meant to be a representative. Things should have just stayed like that. But now…it was just awkward.
She heard her heartbeat racing in the silent room. Stop staring. Of all the things that they had done over the years, this had to be the dumbest thing that they did together. This was not suppose to happen. He was her guide and she was just a representative. They were only meant to be allies. That was it. End of story. The end.
So why the hell was she stuck doing paperwork with him?
"Stop," Temari demanded. Her pen was still scribbling; she wouldn't dare look at him. "It's bad enough I have to do this without a pineapple head staring at me."
Shikamaru said nothing.
"This won't go any faster if you don't start working."
…silence.
She threw her pen at him. "Work, damnit!" He only cocked his head to dodge the projectile. She appeared frustrated enough to kill him without mercy.
He only sighed as he stood up and wandered over to her desk. "Is it really that bad?" he cooed softly into her ear. He kissed the rim of it.
Temari tossed back a glare. "Sweet things like those won't make the paperwork disappear. You're still doing your part." Then again, I just want to get out of here.
Shikamaru tried again. He put his arm around as he bent down on one knee to reach her level. He nipped at the nape of her exposed neck. Temari, on the other hand, refused to give in, no matter how nice it felt. She lost herself for a minute, though.
"Shikamaru!" She shouted in a tone that would have her brothers trembling. "We have to finish this first!" Temari then froze, looking away. She couldn't believe it. Shikamaru was playing with her and she…Temari blushed furiously.
The other let go of her, smirking as he made his way back to his desk. "Fine then, I guess doing all these papers won't be such a drag, then. Remember, you said."
I said it. I said 'first.'
