Back to the Past

"Kanaya... please remind me again why we're walking to the fabric store. You know not all the trolls share your passion for fashion!" Nepeta whined as she tugged on Kanaya Maryam's tight-fitting long-sleeved shirt of the sleekest black, adorned with the zodiac symbol of Virgo in a lovely shade of jaded green. Kanaya was fine with Nepeta's whining, she could keep at that; all Kanaya wanted was fabric to make her latest innovation. Nepeta didn't know what she was making, but she was required to come along. She'd surely love the finished product.

They pushed past the door, and Nepeta scrunched up her eyes and hissed at the cool jet of air that slapped her in the face. Kanaya giggled a little bit; she was used to the cool sting. She poked around the aisles to look for a lovely dark grey pinstripe pattern. She perused several different patterns but couldn't find anything of the right texture or quality. She turned up her nose at a pattern that was almost perfect-just dark purple instead of grey. She couldn't afford to dye it along with the costs of purchasing the fabric in the first place!

A crash sounded behind her. She turned around and was met with the sight of Nepeta wrestling with the perfect fabric. The curious cat had apparently knocked a shelf down and brought a variety of fabrics tumbling down on top of her. Kanaya picked up all the fabric and soothed the hissing and startled Nepeta.

She dragged Nepeta to her respiteblock to take her measurements. Nepeta struggled around of course-she was spring-loaded with energy and ready to pounce on the silky cloth to play with it. Kanaya noted to herself that she'd have to make Nep a cat toy out of some leftovers.

"Kanayaaa, could this pawsibly go any slower?" Nepeta whined as she pawed at the measuring tape situated around her waist. Kanaya took her measurements and sighed out a response: "I'm done now. You can go. I have a lot of work to do anyways."

Nepeta sprang for the entrance and bounded out the door, like she were chasing a mouse back to her room. Kanaya poked around her room for the designs she had made-gangster costumes. Perfect for Nepeta, who loved roleplaying and horseplaying. Kanaya brushed the stray hairs out of her face and began cutting the cloth. She had a lot of work cut out for her.

Kanaya was suited up and prepared to deliver Nepeta her gift. She strolled around the corner to Nepeta's, looking badass the whole way. If only she had a cigar! She knocked on Nepeta's respiteblock door, and when Nepeta opened the door, she jumped back in fright, expecting to get mauled. Instead, Kanaya pushed the neatly folded suit into her hands.

"Get dressed. We have a town to strut around in."

Out the door walked some badass motherfuckers.
