Shawn knew this would happen eventually, he just didn't expect it to come so soon. He stared out the window of the blueberry, knowing the end was near. The end for Shawn Spencer at least. If he didn't get it in time…. He didn't want to think about that. He stared out at the rain clouds that lingered in the dreary Santa Barbra sky.
"I told you they would do this, Gus," Shawn said wistfully, not taking his eyes off the clouds.
Gus cast his friend a glance then focused on the road again, "Well, maybe next time-"
Shawn shook his head. Gus stopped speaking and they drove in silence again.
"You've been a great friend Gus, I just wanted you to know that." he continued.
"Don't say that! Your gonna live, dude!" Gus exclaimed in the drivers seat.
"No, Gus, you and I both know I wont. This has never happened before, this is a totally different circumstance! Maybe if it had been yesterday, or the day before, but today of all days?" he sighed, hazel eyes focused on a rain drop trickling down the window. Gus rolled his eyes. They drove into the parking lot of the Psych office and stopped the car.
"Are you getting out?" Gus asked, glancing at Shawn in the passenger seat who had made no attempt to get out.
"What's the point?" Shawn asked unbuckling and getting out, slamming the door behind him. Gus got the keys out and unlocked the Psych door, "I'll be dead by nightfall."
"Look, we can go back later and see if they have anymo-" Gus stopped as Shawn pushed past him and slumped down on the couch.
Shawn could feel it. The blackness. It was all around him. He leaned on his side and moaned, clutching his stomach.
Gus had had enough. "Dude! Seriously! I'm sure they'll have more pineapple turnovers tomorrow! It's not the end of the world!" Gus threw his hands up in the air. He, grumbling, walked into the other room. Shawn sat up and pouted.
Yes, but it was the end of the world. The end of the sanity, the day… the last pineapple turnover was taken by someone other then Shawn Spencer.
