Here's a short lil ficcy featuring some L/S gen humor. Enjoy .
I disclaim all :P
The sound of running water filled her ears and she looked up to see the steam seeping from underneath the bathroom door.
Michael and Lincoln had both insisted she be first to shower. Not because she needed it, but because they, the fugitive duo whom everyone deemed dangerous and murderous, were trying to be courteous and offer the woman first dibs.
She had declined. And, lying to get him to stop his continued insistence, she told Michael that she was going to watch the news for a few minutes and see what became of Kellerman.
She longed to see the headline: Traitorous ex-Secret Service Agent arrested for aiding Fox River fugitives.
But when Michael had consented and turned to enter the bathroom, Sara made no move to turn on the television. Instead she fell back onto the hotel bed, and gazed into the nothingness of the ceiling.
The steam floated up into the air of the room, and that's when he said it.
"Do you love my brother?"
Lincoln's question was more of a statement. It was spoken, however, with the slightest inflection to suggest otherwise. She knew he knew the answer. But that did not keep him from asking the question. Her head lifted up to meet his eyes from across the room.
The elder brother stared into her intently, as if daring her to say "no".
She knew he knew. And she couldn't lie about this, even if she wanted to.
Her gaze lowered to the comforter on the bed but her voice was loud and clear.
"Yes. Even after everything that's happened, even though I shouldn't, I do. I love him. And I've told him so."
A quiet chuckle was Lincoln's reaction, and it took her by surprise. She looked back up to find him smiling at her.
"Yeah, I know. He told me. I just wanted to see if you would admit it to anyone else."
Her jaw went slack underneath her closed lips, and her brow furrowed just slightly. In such a sudden moment, in such a small conversation, Sara had learned something new about the man she was trying to help re-gain freedom.
The burly and gruff Lincoln Burrows had a sense of humor. And he was just a tiny bit conniving.
She shook her head and could only smile back at him, and the two sat in silence for a few moments more before the sound of the shower went dead. Lincoln made a 'psst' noise to catch her attention, and Sara looked up again, expecting to engage in a debate on who got the shower next.
But instead 'Linc the Sink' shocked her yet again.
His voice was quiet, and laced with restrained laughter.
"I dare you to peek."
This time, her mouth dropped wide open.
