Oh god there she is! Focus Arryn, breathe and don't stare, you have no chance with her, not in a million years, not even if you were the only two left on the planet, hmm maybe then, god who are you kidding she would rather be alone then with you.

I shake my head and glance back at my book before looking back over to the oval. I focus on the blonde who is stretching and laughing with another girl, a friend I guess. Why did I have to be fascinated by her, I mean we are complete opposites, she's a cheerleader and probably has a boyfriend. I sigh as I hear the bell signaling the end of lunch, picking up my books I walk to my next class which I my favorite. I've always enjoyed English. I walk into class and sit in my new assigned seat, right in the middle which was great because I could see but sucked because everyone can see me. I put my books on my desk and pull out my pens as the class begins to fill, tucking my hair behind my ears I try to remember what we did last lesson before I hear a voice.

"Hi there"

I look up and see her, the girl from before, I smile timidly

"Hi"

She sits next to me and straightens her cheerleading outfit before turning to me and smiles

"Im Barbara Dunkleman"

I smile back

"Arryn Zech"

She sticks out her hand and I take it

"Nice to meet you Arryn"

"As to you Barbara"

She then pulls out her books and opens to the page needed, and notes in her book which I see is filled with notes similar to what she was writing.

"Wow that's a lot of notes"

She turns to me a smiles

"Yeah I like to be precise, believe it or not I may be a cheerleader but im not dumb…"

She then comes closer to me and whispers

"…. But the rest I can't say much for"

She then laughs and I giggle beside her. She looks over my notes and nods in approval

"Hmm thorough nice"

I watch in bewilderment at the girl next to me

She's talking to me? A cheerleader is associating with me? God she's pretty

The teacher brings my attention to the front of the room and for the rest of the lesson im captivated by what he speaks about but a few glances to my side reveals the cheerleader beside me is just as hooked.

The lesson moves on smoothly and before I know it the bell signals that class is over. Shuufling my papers into my book I begin to pack away my pens and through this progress I knock my book off and it lands on the floor, papers flying everywhere.

"Crap"

I ben d down and begin to gather the pages when I hear a voice

"Here let me help you"

I look up and see Barbara squat down and pick up some of the pages. In no time all stray papers are picked up and standing up, Barbara hands me a stack, I smile and reach out to get them from her. When our hands touch for the briefest second, bolts of electricity shoot through my palms. I look up at her.

"Thanks heaps"

"No problem, ill see you around okay?"

"Yeah I guess"

She smiles and waves as she moves out the class

"Bye Arryn"

I wave and sigh

"Bye Barbara"

The rest of the day speeds by and im soon at my locker packing my bag with homework, im in my own world until I hear a thunk beside me. Looking up im surprised to see Barbara standing there, leaning against the locker beside me. She smiles brightly, her sapphire eyes sparkling

"Hiya Arryn!"

I smile at her and close my locker door

"Hi Barbara, what are you doing here?"

"I was wondering if you would like to come over my house tonight and work on our English essay?"

"Uh sure"

I nod and my heart beats a mile a minute as I follow her down the street towards what I assume to be her house. Its not a short walk only about 10 minutes and soon im standing in her rather large living room.

"Just wait her and ill be back in a tick, you can put your stuff on the table"

She gestures towards a large wooden table beside me, I nod and she disappears up the stairs to her room. I make my way to the table and dump my bag on it, in my black leggings and knit sweater I feel rather out of place in her house. I soon see her reappear on the top of the stairs and now instead of that cheerleading outfit I so do like she wears dark wash jeans and a grey sweater. She smiles and when she reaches me gestures for me to sit. I nod and sit on one of the chairs

"Hey Arryn would you like a drink? We have soda, juice, water?"

"Uh sure a soda please"

"okay"

She disappears into what I assume to be the kitchen and reappears with two drinks and a bowl of chips.

"lets get work done hey?"

I smiled and nodded again before pulling out my books and placing them on the table. We soon start on our work and together we manage to create a rough draft to give to the teacher in class the next day. Shuffling my books into my bag Barbara looks at me.

"Hey Arryn would you like to stay for tea?"

"Sure ill just let my mum know"

Texting my mum I informed her of what I was doing and to pick me up later. Turning back I saw Barbara smiling.

"So now we have done our work do you want to come up to my room?"

I nodded and followed her upstairs and entered the room. I looked around and her room was simple, many photos hung around the place, some of her at cheerleading competitions, her friends, her family and many others.

"Wow your room is so cool Barbara"

"Thanks"

She sat on the bed and gestured for me to sit next to her. I plonked myself and heard a distant yelling.

"Uh whos that?"

"Oh that's just my brothers, they are outside playing"

"Ohh okay"

Barbara leant over and turned on some music. Recognizing the song I hummed along to it. Not noticing I turned my head to see Barbara watching me, an amused expression on her face, squeaking I let my bang fall in front of my face, hiding the pink tinge on my face.

"So miss Zech, how come ive never seen or spoken to you ever before"

I looked up to see her looking at me, honesty in her composure.

"Well I tend to stick in the shadows and not really talk to popular people like you"

I looked at my hands. Barbara lifted my head with her index finger, she was smiling kindly

"Well we must change that, don't you think?"

I smiled and nodded at her

"I would like that"

Barbara smiled and laughed lightly.

"Your really cute you know that"

I stopped and looked at her and squeaked nervously.

"Really? I am?"

She nodded and smiled

"Yes I don't think I've ever met someone so adorable"

She then booped my nose, making me go cross-eyed for a second. She giggled and gently tucked my bang behind my ear, her fingers brushing against my cheek.

"Uhh thanks, Youre really pretty Barbara"

I said quietly and blushed.

She smiled at me and moved closer

"You know I would love to get to know you better"

She leant in and I closed my eyes
