So after looking over this story I decided I didn't like how it was going so I've redone it. I'm sorry to the few who liked the original story. Hopefully you will like this one too.
Disclaimer- I don't own Harry Potter
The local Muggles never looked twice at the decrepit house on the hill. To them, it was nothing more than an abandoned house, with peeling paint and a collapsed roof. But if one were to look at it with a wizarding eye, the view would be completely different. Shrouded in layers of concealment charms and muggle-repelling spells sat a grand mansion, seeming to be made out of grey smoke and black marble.
Inside this formable house was the headquarters to the most destructive and dark wizarding operation in Britain. Cruel witches and wizards with strange tattoos frequented the home and werewolves, vampires, and other dark creatures made their homes in the forest behind the manor. Screams echoed through the night, and bodies stuffed in bags would be carried out in the morning.
In the interior of this horrible house sits a seventeen year old girl with long, dark hair and bright violet eyes. Locked into a room, she passes her time reading Muggle books that she stashes under her bed and practicing spells from the wizarding books her father gave her. But most of her time is actually used studying maps of the region and formulating a plan to escape from the horrible house on the hill.
James Potter and his best friend, Sirius Black, were lounging on the leather couches in Potter Mansion. It was the second week of summer break, and already the two boys had exhausted their options of passing time. Each was flipping through magazines featuring bikini-clad Muggle woman, occasionally stopping to compare and discuss their findings.
"Don't you think this one looks like Lily?" Sirius looked up to see what James was pointing at. He was turned to the page featuring pictures that the photographers had taken at a local beach without the girls knowing. In the picture sat a red-head in a white two-piece, sunning next to a girl that rather resembled a horse.
"James… I think that is Lily!" Sirius exclaimed, yanking the magazine out of his friend's hands in shock. James dove over his friend and grabbed the magazine back before heading to the drawers next to the fireplace and grabbing his wand. With a wave he had cut out the picture and proceeded to take it to his room to hang it in his "Lily shrine." Sirius gave a bark of laughter and shook his head at James' antics.
At the front of the Potter's mansion, the doorbell rang. Yelling up to James that he would get it, Sirius ran to the door and yanked it open before freezing.
"Well hello dear." Sirius switched to his flirtatious voice once he saw who was at the door. On the porch of the mansion stood a thin girl with black fringe and violet eyes. Sirius thought she was very pretty. But, soon he realized that she was not exactly in the mood for flirting. Dark circles hung under he eyes and various bruises and cuts were poorly hidden under too big clothes.
"Is…is this the Potter mansion?" she asked with a shaking voice.
"Yes." Sirius answered. The girl let out a sigh of relief.
"Hi." She was immediately brighter. "I've been corresponding with Charlus Potter. I've been living in, well, an abusive situation and he told me if I found a way to escape, I could come here. You must be his son, James." She stuck out her hand.
"Actually," Sirius shook her hand. "I'm Sirius. Sirius Black. took me in after I escaped an abusive family as well. May I ask your name?"
"Oh. I'm Crystal. Crystal Riddle."
In the back of Sirius's head, the name rung a bell. For some reason he recognized her last name but could not place it. Possibly she was from one of the obscure pureblood families that his mother tried to make him memorize. It would make sense after all. Pureblood families tend to be the ones to abuse children. Shaking his head to clear away the memories of his childhood, Sirius opened the door further and beckoned for Crystal to come in.
She hesitantly came in, taking in her surrounding with a look of awe on her face.
"It's so beautiful! And bright!" She gasped.
Yup. Sirius thought. Definitely from a Pureblood family.
Suddenly James came pounding down the stairs, stopping when he saw the extra person in the house. Taking in her distraught appearance and worried expression, James gave a sound of recognition.
"You must be that Riddle girl. My father told me about you. I'm glad to see you made it here in almost complete shape. Welcome to Potter mansion. You will never get another bruise or cut while you are here." James gave Crystal a wide smile.
"Unless, of course, you play quidditch with James here." Sirius cut in. "This boy will break your arm."
