Author's Note: Whump Challenge. This is a tag for the end of Thirty-eight Minutes, after John's teammates and Weir leave the infirmary. The challenge is what would happen after they were gone?

Burn

John leaned back and began to enjoy his much need rest from the rough day he had, but he felt stinging sensations from where the paddles had burned the skin on his chest. He made a face showing his discomfort, unaware that the nurse tending to him saw him.

"Major? Are you ok? "The nurse asked with a concerned look on her face.

John was caught off guard by her appearance, but his spirit brightened up a bit when he realized who she was. "No. It's just where the defibrillator…" John didn't even have to finish his sentence.

"Oh… yes. We have a salve that will help that. Would you like me to get some for you?" she asked with a sweet smile.

"Well… if it's not a bother," John responded, trying to pretend that he didn't care either way, but still applying his charm.

The nurse couldn't help but to admire his charisma and his hypnotizing hazel eyes. She kept her head bowed down a little to avoid staring at him and to keep her thoughts concentrating on her task. "No, it is no trouble at all. I'll be right back."

John leaned back again, resting his head back on the pillows and couldn't help but to dawn a satisfying grin. "This might not be so bad, being here in the infirmary," he thought to himself. "I may have to visit this place here and there, with minor injuries… of course. I don't want a repeat performance of today, but with this attention and service… I might be able to live with that once in a while."

He waited with anticipation for the nurse to come back and give him the ointment. The scratchiness of the scrubs was only irritating it even more as he moved around.

She finally returned with a small tube in her hand, "Here you go, Major." She handed him the ointment with a smile and was about to walk away.

"Um… but I thought you were going to," John paused a moment. "I just thought you were going to put it on."

She gave him an apologetic look, "Sorry, Major. I have a few more patients to take care, but it's fairly simple. Just put it where it bothers you and reapply if you need to later." With one more sweet smile she headed out towards the other end of the infirmary.

John sighed, opened the tube and began to put on the goopy cream. " Guess this place won't be so great after all."
