Another Jack and the Pack rewrite, this time it's "On Site with Thomas" Enjoy and comment.
It was another sunny day on the Island of Sodor, and Thomas had been sent by Sir Topham Hatt to help Jack and his friends at the site of a new community center.
Patrick was pouring concrete for a new platform.
It was a very hot day outside.
"It's way too hot out here!" panted Jack.
"I agree!" said Thomas. "This hot weather makes my boiler ache."
Just then, Patrick raced through.
"Get out of the way!" snapped Patrick. "Someone important coming through!"
"What makes you so important?" hissed Jack.
"Concrete!" boomed Patrick.
"We're important too!" said Alfie.
"But I'm the most important of all!" said Patrick as he went away.
Thomas was surprised, but Jack and Alfie was curious.
Who was the most important?
Jack went to ask Bryon.
"Is Patrick more important than us?" asked Jack.
"Nonsense!" said Bryon. "Patrick can't pour his concrete until I level the site. That makes me the most important!"
Meanwhile, Alfie went to see Oliver.
"Slow down!" said Oliver. "Why are you racing this fast in the heat?"
"Patrick said he was more important than us! Is that true?"
"Why no!" said Oliver politely. "Digging the foundations is more important, and that's what I do!"
"Transport!" said Nelson. "Without transport, there would be no construction."
"Our operators!" said Ned. "Without them, it would be dangerous to work."
"I give up!" said Jack. "They all can't be more important than us!"
Alfie and Jack were confused.
When Thomas arrived back later that day, all the machines were arguing over who was more important.
Even Max and Monty were arguing.
"I'm the most important!" grumbled Max.
"No, I am!" boasted Monty. "I can hold more than anyone else!"
And before their operators could stop them, they were off to get even bigger loads.
Max went to get the biggest load he could carry.
"MORE!" boomed Max.
And so was Monty.
"MORE!" boomed Monty.
"I think that's enough." said Oliver politely.
"I WANT MORE!"
"Whatever you say."
And as soon as he was loaded, Max and Monty roared off at warp speed.
"Slow down, slow down!" called out Kelly.
Thomas knew that they were both heading for trouble.
"I'm the most important!" snapped Max.
"I am!" snapped Monty.
Then, there was trouble. Patrick was driving down the road with concrete.
"LOOK OUT!" shouted Patrick.
The operator applied the brakes,
Max and Monty skidded, but Patrick fell down the hill, and landed right into some went cement!
Luckily, nobody was hurt, but Max and Monty were worried.
"My beautiful concrete!" cried Patrick.
"My beautiful paint!" said Thomas.
"Oh dear." groaned Max and Monty,
Miss Jenny heard the news, and raced to the construction site. She was beyond, and I mean BEYOND cross.
"I am very ashamed at you two!" said Miss Jenny sternly to Max and Monty. "You have caused a great deal of trouble! And you have also caused trouble for Thomas by ruining his new coat of blue paint! What do you two have to say for yourselves?"
"We were just trying to see who was the most important." groaned Max.
"You are all part of a team!" continued Miss Jenny. "There is no such thing as being the most important."
"Not even Patrick?" interrupted Jack.
Miss Jenny turned crossly to Patrick.
"Were you boasting about being important again?" she asked.
"I might have said something." said Patrick sadly.
Miss Jenny sternly walked away, leaving all the machines feeling sorry for themselves.
